Sunday’s rerun of Tipping Point: Lucky Stars saw host Ben Shephard welcoming three more celebrities to the show. Comedian Joe Lycett joined cricket commentator Henry Blofeld and Pussycat Dolls singer Melody Thornton as they each battled it out in the hopes of winning as much money for their chosen charities as possible. There was never a dull moment with Joe on the programme as when he introduced himself, he showed off some boxer shorts he had made, which had Ben’s face sewn on to them.
In round one, each of the celebrities were given three counters to put into the Tipping Point machine.
However, in order to use them, they’d have to get a question right, with all three seemingly on fine form when it came to their quiz knowledge.
Poor Melody managed to answer the first question correctly, but in a bold move, she decided to pass to Joe.
Luckily for the comedian, luck was on his side as a counter managed to drop, winning him his first £100.
Henry also seemed to storm through the first round after he managed to rack up an impressive £900.
It didn’t take Joe long to catch the former commentator up, although Melody was falling behind with zero in her prize fund.
After a tense first round, the Pussycat Dolls singer did manage to win £300, but it just wasn’t enough to keep her in the game.
It was then up to Joe and Henry to go head-to-head in a bid to make it to the final.
However, during the second round, things soon took a turn when Joe and Henry had to answer a set of questions each.
If either celebrity didn’t know the answer to the question, they could pass it to their opponent in the hopes they would get it wrong.
However, if their opponent got the question right, they would be awarded a counter for the Tipping Point machine.
It didn’t take long for Joe to stumble on a question about the human body.
Ben asked: “What organ of the human body is the tympanum located?”
As Joe thought about it, he replied: “The tympanum? ‘Oh, I’ve got a pain in my tympanum’.”
“Shall I rub it for you?” Henry joked as he indicated he knew where the tympanum was located.
As Ben burst out laughing, Joe continued: “I don’t know, but I feel like he does so I am going to have a stab at it.”
The Great British Sewing Bee host went on to give the answer of lungs, which was incorrect.
Ben then turned his attention to Henry, as he asked: “So, Henry had Joe passed this over would you have any ideas where you’d find the tympanum?”
“No!” Henry simply replied, which led Ben and Joe to gasp in surprise.
“You sly old dog,” Ben jokingly scolded Henry. “I love it.”
After another tense round, Joe managed to just beat Henry for a place in the final round.
It was very touch and go for the comedian, but despite hitting a few hurdles he managed to win £20,000 for his chosen charity.
Tipping Point airs weekdays at 4pm on ITV.
