Yellowstone will be releasing its fourth season this summer, 2021. At the center of much of the action will likely be Jamie (played by Wes Bentley), who will once again cause a series of problems for the Dutton family. But will he make peace with his family before the show ends?

Will Jamie reconnect with his family before the series ends?

One of the more shocking twists for fans in season three of the show was the reveal that Jamie Dutton was actually adopted.

The character, who has often found himself opposing the family, turned out to not actually be a blood relative, causing more division between the Dutton’s.

John Dutton (Kevin Costner), Jamie’s father, has tried to bring Jamie back on side, hoping to reunite the family once and for all.

Jamie has been, understandably, conflicted throughout the series, finding himself to see things differently from the others, including his brother, Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes).

Fans have taken to Reddit to discuss where they think the character is going in season four and sharing their thoughts on the adoption twist.

In the main thread, one fan said: “Am I the only one who felt that the adoption reveal for Jamie seemed like retcon?

“Almost seems like they don’t quite know what to do with Jamie, and this was just an easy way to separate him from the family.”

Other fans seem to agree with this, with the character of Jamie being at a crossroads by the end of season three.

However, one fan would like to see Jamie finally reconnect with his family, giving him a poetic character arch and redeeming himself once and for all.

Another fan added: “The adoption just didn’t make any sense to me, like you said there was plenty of reasons in the plot already for Jamie to go against the family, but they also had him on a path where he could have been redeemed.”

The adoption seems to be the main dividing point for fans, with it seemingly coming out of nowhere during the season.

Despite this, it could be used to give Jamie a reason to find peace in himself and finally come back to the family, no that he understands his differences to them.

However, another fan has an alternative view on the situation, proposing that the show could go back on it as a way to bring Jamie back from the brink.

They share: “I think it’ll turn out he’s a cousin or somehow related through his mom. John spoke like he knew Jamie’s mom.

“And I could see how one would think hiding a history like that from a kid would be for the best.”

It’s hard to predict what will happen in the upcoming season, with Paramount keeping much of the plot close to their chest.

Little is known about season four, and it is unlikely to be revealed until Paramount releases a trailer for the new season.

The show also has two spin-offs in development, one being a prequel titled Y: 1883. Focusing on the early years of the Dutton ranch.

The second spin-off is another modern-day series titled, Four Sixes Ranch, which will be set in Texas.

These two shows, which are both in development by Paramount, could be the reason season four is still some way off.

Despite this, the show is still expected to drop at some point this summer, though with still no trailer, fans should expect the show to drop late summer, 2021 at the earliest.

All the main cast are expected to returning, including Jamie Dutton’s Wes Bentley, who has been a leading member of the cast since season one.

Season four reportedly wrapped filming in November 2020, leading many fans to believe the show could premiere June, 2021.

However, with still no further news on the latest season, that air date is becoming more unlikely.

Yellowstone is available to watch on Paramount Plus and Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
