Some of the show’s most familiar faces are back with Kim Campbell (played by Angela Griffin), Donte Charles (Adam Thomas) and Chlo Charles (Katie Griffiths) all making a welcome return. The award-winning BBC series promises lots of drama and huge storylines when it returns in the New Year.
Waterloo Road will be back on screens on Tuesday, January 3.
The much-loved show will get a prime time slot on BBC One at 8pm.
For fans who want to binge-watch, there’s great news, as all seven episodes will be available in full as a boxset on BBC iPlayer.
A first glimpse at episode one will see head teacher Kim having to deal with the fallout of a school riot alongside show favourites Donte and Chlo.
There is also a new set of pupils and characters viewers will get to know and love.
The new series promises to be a busy year for both staff and faculty alike.
Fans will see how the kids learn to lean on one another to survive the year and try to stay out of detention as much as possible.
Episode one will start off with pupils having a peaceful protest before things quickly escalate.
The protest quickly turns into a riot which will have huge ramifications for everyone involved.
As the term progresses both the teachers and parents have to work together as they try to navigate the ever-changing social landscape.
From teen homelessness to the cost of living crisis, the show will aim to tackle problems and social issues that young teens are facing today.
The series will also tackle racism, LGBTQ+ sexism and mental health, and show how these issues affect young people.
