Post-production on The Walking Dead’s final episode of season ten, A Certain Doom, was stalled earlier this year amid the outbreak of coronavirus.
Thankfully, the editing and special effects team have been able to get back to work and the conclusion will air as a special, one-off episode on Sunday, October 4.
Filming for the next season is also hoped to start soon for an air date sometime during 2021.
Until then, fans are eager to see Daryl Dixon (played by Norman Reedus) and the Hilltop survivors take on Beta (Ryan Hurst) and the Whisperer armies.
TWD has been building towards an epic conclusion this year, and season ten’s highly anticipated finale is set to be a gory final battle following the death of Whisperer leader, Alpha (Samantha Morton).
Fans also said goodbye to long-standing favourite Michonne (Danai Gurira), but will also welcome back original cast member Lauren Cohan, reprising her iconic role as Maggie in the finale.
Viewers were given a taste of what’s to come next month in a newly released trailer for the season ten finale.
The brand new footage revealed Beta leading a horde of Whisperers towards the Alexandrian’s safe house in the hospital tower.
While the faithful audience is expecting the survivors to come out on top, some foreboding dialogue from Daryl could be cause for concern as he plans his next move.
Daryl confirmed the group will have to take some risky manoeuvres, saying: “We’re not all going to make it through, but this is the only way.”
Recently, TWD head honcho Scott M Gimple confirmed not everyone in the finale will make it to season 11.
During the series’ Comic-Con @ Home panel, the former showrunner and franchise boss teased anyone tasked with looking after kids Judith (Cailey Fleming) and RJ Grimes (Antony Azor) could be at risk.

Gimple teased: He said: “If you look at Judith’s history of parents and guardians, they’re the ones in danger.
“Judith is taking care of herself fine, even taking care of RJ. Anybody who gets in that position with Judith winds up going, and she came into this world with a difficult sort of situation.”
Finally, he warned: “I’m just saying, I’m not as worried about RJ and Judith as the person taking care of them.”
The producer’s comments have prompted speculation that Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) could meet his untimely end in episode 16.
Gabriel has often volunteered to take the younger members of the pack under his wing, and has stepped into a more paternal role following the departures of Michonne and Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln).
Potential spoilers ahead – this theory also aligns with Gabriel’s fate in the comic books, in which he’s sliced open by Beta during the final battle against the Whisperers.
It still remains to be seen if the series will stay faithful to this particularly horrifying death scene, but fans and readers are preparing to pay their respects to one of the most religious survivors on TWD.
The Walking Dead season 10 will conclude Sunday October 4 on AMC, and the following Monday on Fox.
