The Chase’s Bradley Walsh in stitches over ‘holding plums’ question

The Chase host Bradley Walsh was left in fits of hysterical laughter in tonight’s celebrity special, featuring Mikey North, Una Healy, Alison Hammond and Carl Froch.

Coronation Street star Mikey was up first, but Bradley struggled to get through the first question without laughing.

The question read: “In what form of gambling might you be tempted to hold your plums?”

Bradley burst out laughing as he got close to the end of the question, before regaining his composure and managing to finish it.

The available answers were “slot machine“, “backgammon” and “spread betting” and Mikey was certain he was right.

The Gary Windass actor chose slot machine, and was correct, and managed to make it back to his team mates for the final chase.

Explaining his choice of answer, Mikey joked: “When your plums come up in front of you Bradley, and you’ve got to hold them.”

Sadly, both Una and Alison were knocked out of the competition meaning just Mikey and Carl made it to the final round.

Alison was knocked out after not taking the guys’ advice and going for the lower offer just to ensure she got through the round.

Instead she took the higher offer – an enormous £54,000 – but was caught pretty quickly by Anne.

They had a whopping £66,000 in the kitty, but they were no match for chaser Anne Hegerty, also known as The Governess.

The lads clocked up 14 answers but despite a few wrong answers from Anne, they were beaten with almost a minute to spare.

Of course, because it was for charity, there were some cash donations to Carl and Mikey’s chosen charities anyway.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV
