Spoilers: Adam Rickitt's Corrie dad cast as Kyle's father in Hollyoaks

Hollyoaks has bid farewell to several of its mainstays over the past couple of months, but the Channel 4 soap has revealed that two new characters are heading to Chester in the coming weeks in the form of Kyle Kelly’s (Adam Rickitt) mum and dad — and soap fans may recognise actor Chris Quinten, who’ll be portraying his father.

Hollyoaks revealed the news of the two arrivals in a tweet earlier today, saying: ‘It’s National Make A Friend Day today and we have TWO new friends for you! Kyle’s mum and dad… Played by Chris Quinten and Diana Weston, will joining us on Hollyoaks! But do you recognise them? #NationalMakeAFriendDay #Hollyoaks’

There’s little else known about Kyle’s parents at the moment — or what they will bring with them upon their arrival in the village — but it’ll no doubt provide for plenty of more compelling storylines for the beloved villager.

In many ways, it’s a bit of a soap family reunion, as Chris Quinten famously portrayed Brian Tilsley in Coronation Street between 1978 and 1989, and the character was the father of Nick Tilsley, who — while Ben Price currently plays the role — was portrayed by Hollyoaks actor Adam during the late ‘90s.

Additionally, Diana Weston is mostly remembered for her portrayal of Caroline Wheatley in ITV sitcom The Upper Hand, where she starred opposite Joe McGann — who currently plays sinister Edward Hutchinson in Hollyoaks.

Hollyoaks continues Tuesday 12 February at 7pm on E4.
