Rylan Clark-Neal jokes he's downloading Grindr after split from husband Dan

RYLAN Clark-Neal joked he was downloading dating app Grindr just months after his split from husband Dan.

The 32-year-old is said to be divorcing his partner after efforts to save their six-year marriage fell flat.

Rylan was presenting the Icon Award to pop groups Steps at tonight's Attitude Awards.

As he stepped up to the stage, he was looking down at his phone clearly preoccupied with what he was seeing.

Rylan made a joke to the crowd that he was getting back on the dating apps as he put away his phone to speak at the lectern.

"Sorry guys I was a little bit distracted, I was trying to download Grindr it's been 10 minutes," as some in the crowd laughed, while others gasped in shock at his comments.

"What a year, I'm genuinely thrilled to be here."

Rylan then gushed about the pop group steps and took time to single out Claire Richards as he fought back tears.

"One of the members of this band is like a sister to me and for the past four months for probably the toughest time in my life, she's supported me and without her, I don't think I'd be here presenting this award," Rylan admitted, getting emotional.

The TV presenter made a rare red carpet appearance tonight at the Attitude Awards.

And it was a real blast from the past as he brought X Factor pal Lucy Spraggan along as his date for the night.

Presenter Rylan tends to shy away from public bashes, but did occasionally attend them alongside his now ex husband Dan.

In June this year, Rylan spoke out about his marital problems, stepping away from his TV roles and BBC 2 Radio Show for four months in order to focus on his mental health and personal life.

In a heartfelt statement, he told The Sun he was ‘seeking help’ as he ‘wasn’t in a good place’.

But, the star looked in great spirits this evening alongside Lucy, who he appeared in the music competition with back in 2012.

The awards are to benefit the Attitude Magazine Foundation, which raises money for LGBT causes.

Prizes were handed out  at a ceremony held at the Camden Roundhouse in London which featured musical performances from Steps, Paige and RuPaul's Drag Race UK star Bimini.
