Months after sensationally quitting Good Morning Britain after an argument with Alex Beresford over Meghan Markle, Piers Morgan has confirmed he will be joining News Corp and FOX News Media in global deal. The controversial presenter will be hosting a weeknight show on the newly announced talkTV in 2022 amongst a number of other ventures.
As well as hosting his own weeknight show on talkTV, he will also be joining The Sun newspaper and the New York Post as a columnist.
In further news for the controversial presenter, following the success of his Sunday Times bestseller, Wake Up, he has signed world rights with Harper Collins for a new title.
His next book will be published in hardback, audio and digital formats.
And, after the success of his crime series on ITV, he will be presenting a series of True Crime for the broadcasters.
Speaking of his new deal, Piers said: “I’m thrilled to be returning to News Corp. which is where I began my media career more than 30 years ago.
“Rupert Murdoch has been a constant and fearless champion of free speech and we are going to be building something new and very exciting together.
“I want my global show to be a fearless forum for lively debate and agenda-setting interviews, and a place that celebrates the right of everyone to have an opinion, and for those opinions to be vigorously examined and challenged.
“I’m also delighted to become a columnist for The Sun and the New York Post, two brilliantly successful and popular newspaper brands.
“I’m going home and we’re going to have some fun.”
Rupert Murdoch, Executive Chairman of News Corp, said: “Piers is the broadcaster every channel wants but is too afraid to hire.
“Piers is a brilliant presenter, a talented journalist and says what people are thinking and feeling.
“He has many passionate fans around the world and we look forward to expanding his audience in the UK, at FOX Nation, Sky News Australia, The Sun and the New York Post.”
The news comes after it was revealed New UK is launched talkTV early in 2022.
The new channel will be made widely available and will include a schedule of new shows and televised content from the existing stable of News UK brands.
Other new shows for talkTV and details of where the channel will be available will be announced in the coming months.
talkTV will rival the likes of BBC Breakfast, Good Morning Britain and GB News, which launched earlier in the year.
New format shows will be introduced using talent from our own brands – talkRADIO, talkSPORT, Virgin Radio, Times Radio, The Sun, The Times and The Sunday Times.
Rebekah Brooks, Chief Executive of News UK, said: “We are committed to providing choice for television and streaming viewers and bringing the best of our journalism to the screen.
“Taking advantage of modern technology, we can produce high quality shows at low cost.”
