After a jaw-dropping finale, Ozark fans will finally find out the fate of the Byrde family, when the crime drama returns to Netflix in January. Some viewers anticipate the family will divide with Marty Byrde (played by Jason Bateman) fleeing to start a new life with Rachel Garrison (Jordana Spiro) in an unexpected twist.

Taking to Reddit, user TuftyShelf shared their predictions for the fourth and final season of Ozark.

They wrote: “I personally feel like he gets away from it all and goes to the Gold Coast like he had planned, maybe with Rachel.

“At the end of season 2, he wanted out, he was ready. I don’t think it’s in his nature to do what he’s doing, and I think Wendy is furthering their involvement against his wishes.

They added: “I think Wendy becomes an antagonist, maybe with the kids and Marty being opposite?”

Marty was forced to relocate his family to the Missouri Ozark from Chicago after a deal with the Mexican cartel went wrong.

In order to keep his life, he was tasked with laundering $8 million, which was later increased with an additional $50 million.

As a rural location, Marty was convinced he could wash the cash without being suspected – however, he soon learned it wasn’t going to be smooth sailing.

By season two the task at hand became overwhelming and he wanted to escape and put it behind him, instead, his wife Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney) convinced him otherwise.

Wendy who was once against the idea of money laundering had succumbed to feeling powerful and told her family: “This is who I am and who I wanna be.”

She had overtaken Marty as the boss and was ordering hits, which impressed the cartel’s lawyer Helen Pierce (Janet McTeer).

This was also the season, Marty became romantically involved with Rachel after the two shared a kiss.

However, this complicated things for Marty and Wendy as Rachel confessed to using a wire provided by the FBI to provide them with information about their dealings.

As for the couple’s children, their daughter Charlotte Byrde (Sofia Hublitz) hated her parents for moving them from Chicago and began the process of emancipation.

Their son, Jonah Byrde (Skylar Gaertner) showed his hatred for his mother after learning she was behind the murder of his beloved uncle.

With their children against their new life, tons of fans have predicted they would either join forces with their parents’ enemies or completely remove themselves from Marty and Wendy.

User Hiddenlef, agreed with the theory and responded: “That’s how I feel too, when Marty shot mason it changed him, so really I think Marty gets out maybe with Charlotte then Wendy and Jonah make it deep into the cartel?”

This theory could also be a possibility as viewers saw Jonah become fascinated with death when he began killing animals for fun.

In season three, after learning about the death of his uncle he aimlessly began shooting in the house, before pointing a gun at Helen, assuming she was behind the murder.

She was able to talk him down, however, it’s likely the two could get deeper into the cartel as they both enjoy having power and get a thrill from the crimes.

Whereas Charlotte and Marty have expressed their desire to leave the life of crime – thankfully fans won’t have to wait too long to find out the fate of the Byrde family.

Ozark season 4 will premiere on Netflix on Friday, January 21.
