Ovie Soko: Who is Love Island Casa Amor new boy Ovie Soko?

Love Island is officially getting ready for Casa Amor where romances will be tested to the limit and heart could be broken. The inclusion of Casa Amor on the ITV2 reality series this year seemed uncertain until the broadcaster confirmed it would be returning with a teasing tweet. On top of that, Love Island has now revealed all the contestants going into the show for Casa Amor.

Who is Ovie Soko?

Ovie is a 28-year-old professional basketball player from London.

He has played basketball for Great Britain and says his claim to fame was going to school with Alexandra Crane.

During his career, Ovie has played for UCAM Murcia of the Liga ACB as well as the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Duquesne University.

“I adapt very well to everything – I left home at 16 to chase my dreams as a basketball player and since then have lived in six different countries and come across different people and cultures,” he said of entering the villa.

Ovie continued: “Also, I’m laidback and I don’t take myself too seriously. My less attractive traits are that I like things the way I like them, I’m opinionated – if I have an opinion I’ll say my piece.

“I’m a straight shooter who is honest and have been told sometimes that I can be too honest.

“Plus I’m a competitor, it comes with my job, it’s built into my DNA.”

Due to his job and his strict training session, Ovie is said it was hard to meet potential girlfriends.

He said he’d had girls DM him but he “rarely” met people at night clubs or bars.

He has named the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle as his celebrity crush, describing her a “stunning”.

He also went on to say he like singer Rihanna: “Also, I like Rihanna, she is a fiery one. They both have their own qualities that I’m attracted to.”

Speaking about why he was a perfect Islander, Ovie said: “I’m a fun person, I demand attention without having to say too much and I’m laid back so feel like I’ll balance some of the personalities in the villa. I feel like I’m a wildcard.”

So far, it’s unclear whose eye Ovie will catch and which girl he could pair up with.

The Casa Amor challenge will see the couples split apart with one group sent off to the nearby second villa.

Casa Amor could see some contestants having their heads turned as new couples will be formed.

Host Caroline Flack said it was good to have the couples tested by Casa Amor.

On whether his head would be turned, Ovie said: “I’m not going to go in there and say I like a girl with the intention to turn away at the first opportunity but I’ll be honest, if someone else comes in and there is a higher level of mental connection – which I think is what will do it for me – there is a possibility that I could have a wandering eye.”

Love Island airs nightly on ITV2 at 9pm
