Abby Sciuto (played by Pauley Perrette) garnered a huge fanbase during her time as one of the main characters in CBS drama, NCIS. And even though actor Perrette departed the role in 2018, the actor still regularly updates her fanbase and social media followers who are keen to show their support for the People’s Choice Award nominee. Over this past weekend, Perrette and a number of other famous faces joined forces to raise money for a cause close to the actor’s heart in a rare on-screen return.

Perrette’s TV return came on California based network KTLA as she and a number of celebrities showed their support for the LA LGBT Center’s telethon, Love in Action.

Hosted by Cher Calvin and Jai Rodriguez, the fundraising event implored viewers to donate to the organisation which has helped thousands in the LGBT society in Los Angeles.

Glee’s Jane Lynch, Grace and Frankie stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, and Russian Doll’s Natasha Lyonne were just a few of the other celebrities to join Perrette on-screen as they all opened up on how much the centre meant to them.

Appearing via video link in what was a rare return to screens, Perrette said to KTLA viewers: “Hey guys, Pauley Perrette here.

“I’ve been a part of the LGBT centre as a supporter (and) as a donor for a really long time,

“And it makes me really proud, it makes me really happy. And I’m asking you to join us.

“Join us in changing lives, in saving lives and supporting the people that really need our help.”

The former NCIS stalwart continued: “From out LGBT youth, our elderly LGBT and everything in between – healthcare.”

Perrette concluded: “The last year has been really hard and the centre has been in there in every way for people who need help, and it will never stop giving help to those who need it.”

The NCIS star then joined hosts Calvin and Rodriguez live on the show over the phone as she revealed how she became involved with the organisation.

Following her return to screens, the LA LGBT Center took to Twitter to thank the actor for her kind words and appearance.

It penned: “Thank you @PauleyP for lending your voice and energy to tonight’s #LoveInAction telethon! We can feel your #love and #compassion! We can’t wait to see you again in person!”

Perrette issued a heartfelt response, thanking both the centre and her fans who donated and watched along at home.

“Always. Love you all,” she tweeted in front of her 705.3k followers. “Thanks to everyone who supported tonight. God Bless the @LALGBTCenter.”

A number of fans replied to Perrette with their messages of support following her rare stint on-screen.

However, for fans expecting Perrette to return to screen permanently in the world of acting – they’re set to be disappointed.

After leaving NCIS, Perrette did return to acting as part of the CBS sitcom, Broke.

However, it was cancelled after just one season in 2020 and Perrette confirmed she’d now retired from acting for good.

She penned on the social media network: “I retired after NCIS but BROKE was important, beautiful. I did my last dance & am proud of it! Everyone that knows me knew I was retiring right after.

“I’m proud of my work. I love you guys! I AM FREE!!! (To be the tiny little simple human I am!) #Plants #RescuePets.”

NCIS season 19 premieres on CBS in the USA on September 10. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
