Love Island contestants with the fewest public votes are at risk of being dumped from the villa on Sunday evening's instalment of the hit ITV dating programme.

Voiceover star Iain Stirling, whose new show Buffering recently aired on the same channel, made the shock announcement on Thursday, urging the public to cast their votes on their favourite contestants.

"Once again it's time to have your say," he began telling viewers, before instructing them to head over the phone application to vote for their "favourite Islanders."

"You can vote for one girl and one boy. Those with the fewest votes are at risk of being dumped from the island," he said.

"So who's your favourite girl?" he went on to ask before listing the female contestants, including Abigail Rawlings, 27, Chloe Burrows, 25, Faye Winter, 26, Kaz Kamwi, 29, Liberty Poole, 21, Mary Bedford, 22, and Millie Court, 24.

He then listed the male contestants on the show, urging the public to choose their favourite out of Dale Mehmet, 24, Jake Cornish, 24, Liam Reardon, 21, Matthew MacNabb, 26, Teddy Soares, 26, Toby Aromolaran, 22, and Tyler Cruickshank, 26.

"Remember you're voting for your favourite Islanders," he continued. "Find out the results of your votes on Sunday's show."

The announcement came after Clarisse Juliette, 24, Amy Day, 25, Hugo Hammond, 24, and Sam Jackson, 23, were all dumped from the villa by their fellow co-stars on 5 August.

After receiving the fewest votes from the public, it was revealed that two boys and two girls would be heading home and the Islanders had to decide who they would be.

Teddy kicked off the tense moment as he admitted: “The boys would like to save this girl because, she's a bubbly character around the villa…"

He continued: "It was a really hard decision because you’re all amazing girls," before revealing they chose Amy and Clarisse to go home. He added: "So the girl we've decided to save is Mary".

Teddy's gal Faye then shared who they chose to send home after consulting amongst themselves. She said: "Although his journey may not have been as straight forward as others, we do believe he is on the right path to finding true happiness.”

The blonde beauty, who recently kissed Teddy in a steamy scene after ditching him for Sam, continued: "He has been part of many highs in this villa and a few lows.
