Love Island viewers distracted by Brett’s sandals as he gets dumped from villa

Love Island fans have revealed their "distress" at axed Islander Brett Staniland's fashion faux pas.

The 27-year-old PHD student was booted from the ITV2 dating series alongside Priya Gopaldas during Monday night's episode.

Speaking after being dumped, Brett said: "My time in the villa has been a complete rollercoaster.

"I think [Priya and I] said we might have a date when we get back so we'll see."

While Priya didn't seen all too interested in being anything more than friends outside of the villa, it was Brett's choice of footwear which gave Love Island viewers an ick of their own.

While stood around the firepit as the results from the viewer vote were announced, Brett could be seen sporting a pair of gladiator sandals on his feet.

The outlandish fashion choice was quickly seized upon by fans on Twitter, with some viewers revealing they were even 'distressed' by his footwear.

One viewer commented: "No offense but Brett’s shoes alone would’ve given me the ick."

Another wrote: "I try so hard to have Brett’s back and then he wears shoes like that."

A third quipped: "My grandad wears the shoes Brett has on."

Meanwhile, one pretty offended viewer responded: "Brett’s shoes are putting me in a state of distress."

Another brutally honest viewer concluded: "Brett, throw those shoes in the bin sir."

Brett's fashion fail wasn't the final drama of the episode either, as Priya left a parting gift set to cause some drama.

Before exiting the villa, the medical student pulled Faye Winter aside and revealed that she and Brett did not vote for Faye and Teddy Soares as a least compatible couple.

The truth bomb leaves Faye and Teddy raging, as they try to work out which other couple gifted them the unflattering moniker in tonight's episode (August 17).

The drama even looks set to cause an almighty row between Faye and Jake Cornish.
