The repercussions of Emmerdale’s recent barn explosion will continue to be felt in the weeks to come, as Liv Flaherty (Isobel Steele) wrestles with her emotions. But will this anguish result in her once again turning to drink?
In the past, Liv was regularly witnessed replacing the contents of a water bottle with vodka before finally admitting to her brother Aaron (Danny Miller) that she had a problem with alcohol.
But there’s a possibility of those demons resurfacing as Liv’s recrimination over the death of Paul Ashdale (Reece Dinsdale) intensifies.
During the pair’s final confrontation, Liv was seen abandoning villainous gambling addict Paul to his fate as he lay trapped with broken legs inside a wrecked barn.
Mere seconds after Liv made her own escape, the building exploded, with Paul still inside. He then subsequently died from his injures in hospital.
In the aftermath of Paul’s demise, the Dingles have been left to deal with the debts he accrued in life, while son Vinny (Bradley Johnson) has tried to come to terms with the abuse his wicked dad had meted out.
Now it seems as though feelings of survivor’s guilt will continue to gnaw away at Liv – to the extent that she’s compelled again to reach for the bottle.
But will anyone be able to stop her before she takes a sip?
