Sunday nights have been ruled by Line of Duty over the past few weeks, with millions up and down the country on the edge of their sofas each episode.
Ahead of this week’s fix, BBC One has released some teaser pictures, showing an armed confrontation playing out.
It comes after last week’s episode ended on a cliffhanger, leaving viewers guessing who DCI Jo Davidson’s (Kelly Macdonald) mystery blood relative could be.
Upcoming scenes will see DI Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) undergo a tense investigation with DCI Jo, where guns will be drawn.
The teaser images show Kelly wearing a police vest, looking panicked as Steve radios in about a specific situation.
DS Chris Lomax (Perry Fitzpatrick) can be seen in the background, watching on as they pace around the outside of a redbrick garage.
Later, Steve can be seen running with his gun in one hand, on the trail of a mysterious threat.
Jo and Steve appear to get caught up in a clash as they discuss their plan of action, with Steve eventually breaking into the premises behind them.
The nail-biting scene isn’t the only drama to come – DCI Patricia Carmichael (Anna Maxwell Martin) is set to make a comeback in the cult crime drama.
Patricia previously locked horns with AC-12 boss Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar), and now she’s coming back fighting.
Speaking about her Line of Duty return, actress Anna promised DCI Patricia is steeled to “bust balls” in the police force.
She said: “Pat’s back… I can’t remember what she’s doing there, nor would I be allowed to blab, but suffice to say she’s got some new clobber and she’s ready to bust some balls.”
Spoilers have revealed Hastings will be informed his department is getting shut down by police bosses, forcing him into early retirement.
Is DCI Patricia out to get him?
Line of Duty returns on Sunday at 9pm on BBC One.
