It's all over as Kyle tells the Emmerdale police that he killed Al in big twist

And there it goes, Cain’s (Jeff Hordley) ruse up in smoke. Poor little Kyle (Huey Quinn) has been struggling under the weight of killing Al and sending his dad to prison in Emmerdale, and enough is enough for the lad. But his honesty will carry a huge cost.

Despite their best efforts, the police are closing in and Moira (Natalie J Robb), Matty (Ash Palmisciano), Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) and Amy (Natalie Ann Jamieson) are taken in for questioning. DS Malik is hellbent on making one of them crack, and he knows exactly where to apply the pressure.

There are two weak links in this chain – Amy and Matty – and he zeros in on them. Neither are prepared for this level of pressure and when DS Malik leans on Matty with realisms of the kind of consequences he’s facing, it looks like he’s about to buckle like the fence holding back Moira’s cows in the storm.

Moira and Mackenzie, on the other hand, are old pros of course, and stick to their stories like mud on a Dingle pig. They might be sweating a bit, but they’ve got DS Malik licked.

After the ordeal, they all regroup back at Butlers and realise just how severe things are becoming for them all. The stakes are higher than they ever imagined, and their chance of success is getting slimmer by the minute.

The next day, Moira is anxious about Caleb being involved in the case, certain Cain won’t speak to her again. She and Amy question his methods, but he stands firm. He’s certain he can sort this.

But that certainty is short lived when DS Malik makes an unwelcome visit to Butlers and whips Kyle back in for questioning.

This is the crucial moment in the boy’s weakening resolve – he finally crumbles completely and reaffirms it was him that pulled the trigger. What will that mean for everyone involved?
