I'm A Celeb's Beverley Callard insists mother-in-law is 'proud' of mortified star's 'mega shag' remark about husband Jon

I'M A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!'s Beverley Callard has insisted that her mother-in-law is "proud" of her "mega shag" remark about husband Jon.

The 63-year-old star was left red-faced when she realised her raunchy comments about her sex life had been aired to the nation while on the ITV show.

And in tonight's catch-up episode, A Castle Story, Bev admitted that she feared Jon's 88-year-old mother would never speak to her again after the revelation.

However, her words appeared to have the opposite effect – and she is "proud" of her son's nickname.

The former Corrie star dished: "I really thought they would edit that out.

"I was convinced my mother-in-law wouldn't speak to me. She's 88 and she's really proud.

"Now she's telling people that's her son."

Earlier this month, Beverley said that she "wanted to die" when she realised her crude nickname for her husband had made it into an episode of I'm A Celeb.

During an appearance on Lorraine, the sheepish star said: "I can't believe they aired that.

"I just thought they were quite bad words so they'll edit that, when Ant and Dec played the clip for me last night I wanted to die."

She repeated: "I wanted to die."

Lorraine giggled as she brushed off Beverley's embarrassment, insisting: "It was funny, it was a laugh – as he said himself, it could have been a lot worse."

Beverley made the bold claim in camp last month, telling her fellow contestants: "Jon's very handsome, he's a mega shag.

"He is a mega shag and he dances for me in the kitchen every morning and makes me laugh my socks off."

She added: "He's gorgeous!"

Later Vernon Kay said: "She let it be known that Jon was very good at… how do we put it? Shall we say, bedroom activities."

Beverley continued: "I do actually call him that though Vernon, I go, 'Jon! You are my mega shaaaag!'"

The actress has been happily married to recording studio owner Jon for the last ten years.

But the actress previously revealed that she wanted to “stay single forever” before meeting him, and that she was initially reluctant to go on a blind date.

Jon is the star's fourth husband, with Bev married to Paul Atkinson between 1974 and 1977, David Sowden between 1980 and 1988, and Steve Callard from 1989 until 2001.

Beverley has two children, 45-year-old Rebecca and 31-year-old Joshua.
