I’m A Celebrity’s Wales camp ‘uncovered’ as woman finds production crew by lake

A woman believes she has discovered the place where this year's series of I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! will be filmed.

This year's series will be filmed in the UK due to ongoing travel and quarantine restrictions stemming from the coronavirus pandemic.

And a woman stumbled upon a production crew setting up some sets and wooden huts by a lake on the Denbigh Moors in North Wales.

The Twitter user shared a series of photos which showed fancy looking cabins sat right next to a lake, vehicles coming on and off the site and people hurrying around on a peninsula in the middle of the water.

It is reported that access to the Welsh reservoir is restricted while filming takes place, with those restrictions in place for a number of weeks.

The Twitter user suggested that the area seen in the photos was the "base camp".

According to North Wales Live, she said: "We parked in the outside top end of the reservoir, so there were very few people around. You also can't see them [the huts] from the visitor centre."

Earlier this week, the Manorafon Farm Park in Abergele revealed it had been approached for exclusive use by an unnamed organisation for two months during September and October.

The visitor attraction features a selection of animals that always appear in I'm A Celeb – snakes and cockroaches.

Similarly, Gwrych Castle, also in Abergele, North Wales, announced it would be unexpectedly closing to the public until early next year.

These claims, along with the new photos, amp up speculation that the series will film in North Wales, however the location is yet to be officially confirmed.

A representative for I'm A Celeb had no comment when approached by Daily Star Online.

However, it has been confirmed that "the show will be broadcast live every night from a ruined castle in the countryside".

The show usually takes place in Australia, however bosses realised that would not be possible this year.

Richard Cowles, Director of Entertainment at ITV Studios, said: "We pulled out all the stops to try and make the series happen in Australia.

"Unfortunately, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and despite us looking at many different contingencies, it became apparent that it just wasn't possible for us to travel and make the show there.

"However, we are all really excited about a UK version of I'm A Celebrity. While it will certainly be different producing the show from the UK, the same tone and feel will remain.

"Our celebrities will probably have to swap shorts for thermals but they can still look forward to a basic diet of rice and beans and plenty of thrills and surprises along the way."
