I'm A Celebrity 2021 – Fans all saying same thing about 'amazing' Arlene Phillips as Danny Miller faces trial tonight

I'M A Celebrity fans have flocked to praise former Strictly judge Arlene Foster for her "stunning" good looks – at the golden age of 78.

The dance pro is the oldest camp mate ever to join the I'm A Celebrity camp, which is being held at Gwyrth Castle in North Wales for the second year running.

But fans were left open mouthed when Dame Arlene revealed her age, prompting them to exclaim how they thought she was younger.

One wrote: "Can’t believe Dame Arlene Phillips is 78, she certainly don’t look it."

Meanwhile another fan posted: "DAME ARLENE PHILLIPS IS 78 YEARS OLD. I daren’t even make plans for which CARE HOME I’ll be in at that age, never mind take on #ImACeleb"

IAC bust-ups: Janet Street-Porter Vs Brian Harvey

Perhaps one of the show's pettiest fights took place between broadcaster Janet Street-Porter and singer Brian Harvey.

It led to the E-17 member leaving the show – and the subject of the row? Farting.

On day 7 of the 2004 series, Janet, 74, berated Brian for breaking wind near to where she was making dinner.

The outburst caused Brian to fly off the handle, saying: "You're cooking dinner! You're f*****g over there, I'm over there. Don't keep f*****g having a go at me about farting!

"Just because you think it's wrong doesn't mean everyone else thinks it's wrong. I'm farting because I need to f*****g fart, because all I've eaten is f*****g beans!

"I take it very personal because you know that there's 16 million people watching!"

The eruption led to the 47-year-old boyband member packing his bags, citing that he was sick of being "treated like a kid" in front of viewers.

IAC bust-ups: Katie Price v Johnny Rotten

Katie Price, 43, clashed with the 65-year-old Sex Pistols star Johnny Rotten back in 2004.

The pair took an instant dislike to one another, making things awkward for the rest of their campmates.

Earlier this year Katie branded him "a nasty piece of work", adding: "I witnessed it in the jungle."

Jonny, whose real name is John Lydon, was known for his explicit rants and famously attacked Katie for using the camp's drinking water supply to wash her hair.

Speaking in the Bush Telegraph he described her as "f*****g talentless".

He raged: "I'm not here to support a Page 3 f*****g blow up balloon. Right? I f*****g ain't. No f*****g more. B****s to you. I've had enough of this s**t."

He wasn’t the only celebrity that had a problem with Katie in the jungle. The model also clashed with TV personality Kim Woodburn, 79, when she reappeared on the show for her second stint in 2009.

      ‘He won’t remember’

I’m a Celebrity’s Danny Miller has hit back at critics who slammed him for doing the show weeks after his son was born – and says “he won’t remember”.

The former Aaron Dingle actor is one of 10 celebs taking part in the 21st series of the show this year.

The soap star and fiancee Steph Jones welcomed their son Albert into the world last month.

But his choice to star in the popular ITV programme has caused backlash amongst fans as it’s possible he’ll be away from his newborn for a maximum of three weeks.

Danny responded to all the comments on the most recent episode of the Act On This podcast.

He said: “[Some] people think it’s out of order, but there’s people who work for a less wage who have to go away and provide for their family who work in the Army, who don’t get contact and don’t get to see them for six months.”

David Ginola punters pick to win I'm A Celebrity

David Ginola is now the favourite in bookmaker Coral's betting for the winner of I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here 2021 following the opening night of the show, at odds of 7-2.

Ginola's odds have been cut from 8-1 as punters place their bets after the first evening.

Danny Miller and Frankie Bridge are the joint 4-1 second favourites.

"Punters are placing their bets on who they think will win I'm a Celeb and it is David Ginola who they're backing to go all the way. We've cut his odds following the opening night and he is now the favourite to win the show," said Coral's Harry Aitkenhead.

Arlene Phillips is the 50-1 outsider now in the betting.

"We don't expect Arelene to last long and in our eyes, she's the firm favourite to be the first celebrity to leave the show on the 2021 series," added Aitkenhead.

Trials to be tougher for 2021

Last year viewers slammed the action, claiming the trials were too easy.

Speaking from Gwyrch Castle, Executive Producer Olly Nash said: “We did set out at the beginning to make it much tougher. They are in for longer, the trials are bigger. The trials were limited last year and this time they are much closer to the Australian series in terms of scale.

“Absolutely they are harder and bigger and there are more trials over the series than ever before and more triallists taking part. That was the learnings of having one series here.

“We have 24 trials this year, I think normally it is closer to 20 in a full series, it is the most ever and absolutely the most celebrities taking part.”

    • Joseph Gamp

First vote for trial opened up before show had started

Although fans are still able to vote the old-fashioned way – by picking up the phone – they're now also able to vote by downloading the official I'm A Celebrity app, which is available at no cost from Apple's App Store and the Google Play store used on Android.

For the first time, the 2021 show opened the online vote for the first bush tucker trial before the series had even premiered.

In the end, it was Emmerdale-star Danny Miller that found himself faced with the challenge on the very first episode (much to his dismay!).

When does IAC return to TV?

After the new series premiered on Sunday, November 21, it will now air everyday on ITV.

The show usually starts at 9pm everyday until the finale in December.

The episodes usually last around an hour, and you can also always catch up on what you've missed on the ITV Hub.

David Ginola fell in love with his teacher

I’M A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!'s David Ginola was once in love with his teacher – and became so obsessed with her that she had to ring his parents.

The footie pin-up hinted that his former teacher may have felt the same way, but was left unnerved by his schoolboy infatuation.

The 54-year-old star shared: “The first time I fell in innocent love was at school – with my English teacher Madame Bonnemain. She was beautiful to me, the way she spoke, the way she moved on the raised platform in class like a dancer.

"She was brunette and had a lovely body, with nice eyes and a pretty face. I used to sit in the front row of class and would stare at her all the time to the point where it unnerved her."

David went on: "Whenever she asked a question my hand would be the first in the air, urging her to choose me. She knew I was staring into her eyes and used to look back into mine, but it was always she who had to turn away first and look to the floor.

"She even called my parents to tell them that I made her feel a bit uncomfortable and asked them to have a word with me."

I’m A Celebrity viewers told to boycott show

I’M A Celebrity viewers have been urged to boycott the show because of its “tired, tacky and cruel” Bushtucker trials.

More than eight million fans are expected to tune into next Sunday’s opening episode – but Peta is encouraging people not to bother.

The animal rights charity has long complained against the use of animals in the show – claiming that the use of live rats, snakes, spiders cockroaches and mealworms are used for “cheap laughs”.

Peta UK’s media and communications manager, Jennifer White, told the Metro that ITV “must change the structure of the show” if they want to stay relevant.

“Every season of this show brings more cruelty to our screens,” she exclaimed.

“Animals are terrified and abused and killed for these challenges and it’s all for a cheap laugh.

“We encourage everyone to boycott watching this year’s show.”

I’m A Celebrity leaves Gwrych Castle locals furious

I’M A Celebrity bosses have ringed the castle with steel fences, closed off footpaths and even a local golf course to keep out prying eyes – and locals aren’t happy.

The ancient Welsh pile – which will be home to the ITV series for the second year running – is ringed and criss-crossed with trails used by ramblers and dog walkers.

Despite the fact that most are unofficial routes, estate chiefs have allowed locals to use them for years.

Yet now The Sun Online can exclusively reveal I’m A Celebrity bosses are said to have erected large metal panel fences eight feet high around the perimeter of the North Wales castle.

Earlier this year, local people took the issue before council chiefs over whether they had the right to ramble across the estate.

Naughty Boy lived up to his name

Later in the Castle Clink, it was revealed that Naughty Boy – real name Shahid Khan – had lived up to his assumed name as the first celeb to break the rules.

He was caught smuggling spices in his socks.

This year's series of the show, the 21st, will see 25 challenges in all.

Ant, 46, warned: "This year is going to be tougher than ever."

Celebs in main camp were left disappointed with their accommodation

The celebs who made it into the main camp were disappointed.

Louise Minchin took a tour and said: "I was hoping for a blazing fire when we walked in. I think I've bigged it up in my head, haven't I?!"

"The bedroom is interesting. At the moment it feels really cold in there which makes me a bit nervous and we're all quite spread out.

"I feel like we're all really close already, so I'm like, I just want us all to be sleeping together.

"I was thinking I was going to have quite a lot of showers but I've seen it now and I'm just, like, as much as I can possibly avoid it, I'm not going to go in there."

Frankie was more upbeat and appreciated their grub.

She said: "The dinner actually tasted better than I thought, but I do still feel a bit hungry."

Danny Miller already has a secret Welsh hideaway

Danny Miller will be used to living in Rhyl as he owns a caravan in there – and it is just six miles away from the castle he will be hoping to be crowned champion of the show in.

It has led to the soap star, 30, joking he might leg it to his luxury mobile home if he is forced to eat too many creepy crawlies when the show returns on Sunday, the Sun Online can exclusively reveal.

A source was first to tell us: “Danny loves his Welsh hideaway and goes there most weekends.

He’s driven past the castle loads of times so being on the show is a bit of a busman’s holiday for Dan.

“He’s joked to some of his mates that if things get too grim in the castle he could make a run for it to the caravan.”

Some locals are not happy about IAC returning

For many years the public and residents of the area enjoyed free and unhindered access to the woods, said Councillor Delyth MacRae.

She said: “Prior to the castle being built, there was an undesignated path from Llanddulas to Abergele and we are talking a long time ago.”

“That was for access to the mines and it was quicker to go down there and go to the market/go shopping.”

She added: “Members of the public are feeling, rightly or wrongly, they are feeling very aggrieved their enjoyment of the land has been taken away due to recent changes of ownership as well as liability and security issues.”

And one local resident also said: “I’ve walked these paths for years and now a TV show is spoiling things.”

Danny and Frankie joint favourites for IAC glory

DANNY MILLER AND FRANKIE BRIDGE are the joint favourites to win I'm A Celebrity this year with Ladbrokes.

Danny's odds have been slashed in recent days and he now occupies the top spot in the betting with Frankie at 4/1 apiece.

Late entrant Simon is also fancied by punters at 6/1, with former footballer David seeing his odds backed into 7/1.

Unfortunately at the other end of the betting Arlene finds herself friendless as the 25/1 rank outsider for glory.

Jessica O'Reilly of Ladbrokes said: "Danny and Frankie are proving incredibly popular picks, but it's clear that David is still the housewives' favourites judging by the sheer volume of bets placed on the Frenchman."

      Will Kiosk Cledwyn return?

We all remember the grumpy shopkeeper, Kiosk Cledwyn who appeared in last years I’m a celebrity.

He would be the man to reward celebs with treats if they successfully answered a correct question following the completion of a task.

On Thursday, December 3, hosts Ant and Dec revealed it would be his final appearance on the show.

However, In the new I’m A Celebrity teaser, the narrator says: “Two heroes brave the elements to ready the camp.”

Dec then says: “It’s a bit chilly,” to which Ant replies: “I can’t imagine anything colder.”

Dec addresses his grumpy co-star at this point, and says: “A frosty reception at Cledwyn’s?” with Ant responding: “I’d still rather take my chances out here.”

Why is I'm A Celebrity being held in Wales?

The flagship series is returning to Gwrych Castle near Abergele in North Wales for a second year due to ongoing coronavirus travel restrictions.

The current travel restrictions prevent filming at its usual location in the Australian jungle.

It is the second year in a row that producers have chosen the location for the three-week long series.

Frankie says Wayne will be fine running the house while she's away

Mum-of-two Frankie Bridge says she only signed up to the show because it has remained in North Wales.

She has had to leave sons Parker, eight, and Carter, six, at home with ex-Chelsea footballer husband Wayne Bridge so joining in the Aussie jungle was out of the question.

Frankie said: "That's always been my biggest stumbling block as I'd have to spend so much time away from the boys."

She reckons Wayne will be fine holding the fort. She said: "Our fridge door is full of lists. Full of schedules for the boys, what they have in their school bags, what the dog's doing that day. He's got everything."

But Frankie admits leaving the kids was a wrench. She said: "It was really emotional and really difficult."

Pedestrian killed in fatal hit-and-run near I'm A Celeb castle

A PEDESTRIAN has been killed in a hit-andrun accident near the I'm A Celebrity castle — a year on from another tragedy close by.

Police said the 63-yearold man was struck by a black BMW, which failed to stop at the scene.

It happened around 9.40pm on Saturday as he walked along the A548 in Abergele, North Wales — less than two miles from Gwrych Castle.

A police spokesman said yesterday: "The vehicle was located a short time later and three persons were arrested."

The crash victim was said to be a local man.

Sgt Raymond Williams, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: "We ask any witnesses who have not come forward to contact police with information or dash cam footage."

The accident came almost a year to the day after show superfan Sharn Hughes, 58, was hit and killed by a car on the A547 as she took photos of the castle.

Frankie Bridge 'buzzing' over this year's shower arrangements

LOOSE Women host Frankie Bridge is "buzzing" she won't have to strip off to shower in this year's I'm A Celebrity.

Myleene Klass stole headlines when she wore a white bikini in the Australian camp's jungle shower in 2006.

But this year's stars can scrub up in a bathtub, hidden behind a shower curtain.

And former Saturdays singer Frankie — who viewers saw enter Gwrych Castle last night —- is thrilled. She said: "I'm buzzing I don't have the pressure of coming out in a bikini and being in the shower on TV. I'm totally fine with that.

"But it's going to be quite entertaining as one of the campmates will have to pump the water at the same time."

      Plank & Dec

I'M A Celebrity kicked off last night with the return of the harrowing high-level Walk The Plank trial. Hosts Ant and Dec grinned gleefully as terrified contestants inched along boards in pairs 213ft above a disused quarry.

Frightened Radio 1Xtra DJ Snoochie Shy, 29, yelled "I'm gonna drop" as her plank started to wobble when she stepped on it.

Looking nervous, she held her arms out for balance as did music producer Naughty Boy, 36, who was on the other plank alongside her. BBC Breakfast's Louise Minchin, 53, and Emmerdale star Danny Miller, 30, had got the ball rolling as the first pair to walk the plank.

Worried Louise announced: "I can't think of many things worse than this right now, it's terrifying."

Danny added: "I can't wait", to which Ant jokily remarked: "A little bit sarcastic there."

As he watched the troubled stars, Dec said: "It's amazing how suddenly walking in a straight line gets so much harder." To win, players had to be the first to press a button on the end of the plank with a foot when a green light flashed.

Victors Louise and Snoochie formed the Red Team and chose world-beating Olympic diver Matty Lee, 23, and 30-year-old Paralympics athlete Kadeena Cox to join them.
