How Dancing With the Stars helped Bobby Bones meet his fiancée

Love was in the air on Oct. 11, 2020, when Bobby Bones announced his engagement to Caitlin Parker via social media. Its been a long road for Bones, who has dedicated most of his life to his career. He’s best known for hosting The Bobby Bones Show, but he also had a stint on Dancing with the Stars. In fact, in 2018, he took home the Mirror Ball Trophy alongside pro dancer Sharna Burgess, per The Washington Post.

Bones took to Instagram to share the happy news. “I am the luckiest. I waited so long for the right one. And it payed off. Surprised her with a secret proposal in the barn in the backyard,” he gushed. He also hired musician Mat Kearney to play their song, “Nothing Left to Lose,” as he popped the question. “[Parker] said it was at Mat’s concert during this song that she knew I was the one for her. So lucky he played it again for only us tonight. I’m so happy I get marry to love of my life.”

Parker was seemingly just as excited about the proposal, writing on Instagram, “I get to marry the best man I’ve ever known,” adding, “I am in shock and feel like the luckiest girl in the world. I’m so in love & so happy.”

Its been a whirlwind relationship for the couple, who had only been together for a few months when Bones got down on one knee. In fact, thanks to a few nonstarters on the set of Dancing with the Stars, this happy ending almost never happened.

Bobby Bones didn't make a good first impression

When Bobby Bones met Caitlin Parker back in 2019, it wasn’t exactly love at first sight. Bones, who appeared on the 2018 season of Dancing with the Stars, came to set one fateful day in 2019 to visit his friend Lauren Alaina. Parker also happened to be on set that day. Her close friend works in PR for ABC and invited Parker to a taping. Parker met Bones backstage but wasn’t interested in him romantically, per People.

“We didn’t really hit it off the first time we met,” Bones told the outlet in 2020, “We were just like ‘Hi, what’s up?’ and then we started talking on Instagram like a month later.” They eventually turned their Instagram filtration into a date….well, kind of. According to Bones, he was sure he was taking Parker out on a date, but Parker thought they were just meeting up as friends.

Alls well that ends well, though, and that first “kind of date” turned into a second “definitely date.” They grew so close so quickly that they even decided to quarantine together after only a few months of knowing each other. During that special time, Bones realized Parker was the one, and the rest is history.
