Hollyoaks viewers were left concerned for Cleo McQueen during Monday's first look episode on E4 at evil Pete Buchanan (Kai Owen) returned to the village.
The child abuser has been been behind bars ever since grooming Cleo (Nadine Mulkerrin) but is now a free man.
Cleo last laid eyes on Pete when he was being escorted out of the courtroom to jail.
She confided in Celeste Faroe (Andrea Ali) about her hears that Pete has returned to the village, but Celeste put her mind at ease.
However, it was later revealed that Pete is back and was spotted watching Cleo from afar.
Viewers watching at home rushed to their keyboards to discuss the sex offender's return.
Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "God even that small scene with Pete made my skin crawl."
Another added: "Pete's back in the village! Leave Cleo alone please."
While a third person posted: "Pete the creep back."
Another added: "I’ll hurt Pete for Cleo I actually will."
"Omg please protect cleo at all costs!! Don't let that disgusting Pete near her please!" A fifth social media user said.
Later in the episode, Walter Deveraux introduced his grandson Toby to a member of his group Philip.
However, Toby quickly discovered that Phillip was in fact his girlfriend's former abuser Pete.
Fans rushed to their keyboards to predict that killer Toby will murder Pete to protect Cleo.
One person wrote: "I’m expecting a full episode consisting of Toby dragging Pete through the village and I expect it tomorrow."
A second fan said: "Go on Toby, do away with him!"
While another added: "Pete is getting bodied!!"
Pete's reappearance comes after Cleo was left unsettled after receiving a phone call from an unknown number.
She opened up to boyfriend Toby (Bobby Gordon) about her past trauma, not knowing about his violent tendencies.
