EastEnders’ Scarlett rocked by new Janine Butcher bombshell after Mick Carter exit

EastEnders was full of dramatic scenes on Wednesday night's episode as Scarlett Butcher was left rocked by a new Janine Butcher bombshell.

Only recently, Mick Carter appeared to be "killed off" on Sunday's episode as he bowed out of the soap after nine years.

Mick tried to save his ex-wife Linda Carter, who he had just reunited with, after she and Janine drove off a cliff and into the English Channel, where he disappeared at sea.

And on Monday's episode, Janine had a quiet word with her daughter Scarlett, emotionally blackmailing her and asking her to lie about the car crash back in June, where Janine framed Linda for the accident.

After Scarlett refused to backtrack, Janine tried to run away but was arrested by the police for perverting the course of justice.

During Wednesday's episode, Albert Square's residents continued to be stunned over the news of Mick's disappearance.

And things took an awkward turn at Kathy's when Martin Fowler and Stacey Slater spoke loudly about Janine with a confused Scarlett accidentally overhearing.

Martin said: "At least they've arrested Janine now, anyway" to which Stacey added: "Yeah, well, she'll find a way to wriggle out of it."

Continuing, Martin said: "Yeah, she'll be back in a few years, start the whole sorry cycle again. Look, people around here were convinced that she murdered her first husband, Barry."

Stacey added: "Yeah, then there was Michael" to which Martin replied: "She is a psychopath. They will be making documentaries about her in a few years, calling her The Black Widow of Walford or something."

Later, Scarlett had a heart-to-heart with her uncle Ricky Butcher as she said: "Who's Barry? Martin said people thought mum had killed him. Then Stacey said something about my dad."

To which a concerned Ricky replied: "No, no, no, that is just gossip, alright? It's nothing for you to worry about."

Scarlett added: "But what did mum do to him?" as Ricky said: "Look, people round here like to shoot their mouth off, it don’t mean anything. No one knows your mum like we do."

She continued: "Has mum killed someone before? Is that what they were talking about?" with Ricky exclaiming: "No, don't be silly!"

Scarlett then started to question what had happened to Mick, suggesting it might not have been an accident after all.

Later, a worried Ricky spoke to Sonia as he pointed out Scarlett is only 10-years-old and needs protecting, adding: "Whatever Janine has done, she's not evil, alright, she's my sister."
