EastEnders’ Jessie Wallace ‘temporarily suspended from soap for drinking on set’

EastEnders actress Jessie Wallace has reportedly been suspended from the soap for two months after allegedly "drinking on set", according to reports.

The soap star, 48, is said to have been placed on leave due to an "incident" that occurred during filming, which Daily Star Sunday broke yesterday.

Since it has been claimed by The Sun that the actress who plays Kat Slater "seemed drunk on set".

According to reports told to Daily Star Sunday, BBC bosses held a crisis meeting and came to the decision that she would be temporarily axed from the soap for two months to "sort herself out".

It was said by The Mirror that she allegedly will be "written out" of future storylines.

A source told the publication that she talked with producers after her "behaviour was called into question."

They claimed: "Scriptwriters are currently coming up with a storyline to explain Kat’s temporary exit from Walford."

An EastEnders source told the Daily Star Sunday: "Bosses had no choice but to suspend her."

The insider added: "She’s one of the soap’s biggest stars and it’s such an exciting time for everyone working on the show as they’ve just filmed the huge anniversary episodes.

"There’s a real buzz around the set as everyone is very much looking forward to celebrating the milestone.

"They’d already filmed all those episodes on the boat along the Thames which Jessie is in, so thankfully her suspension did not cause any chaos to the storyline.

"During the meeting she was asked to sort herself out before returning to work. The writers are coming up with a storyline to explain Kat’s temporary exit from Walford."
