EastEnders fans went wild on Monday night as Janine Butcher made her explosive return to Albert Square.

It was revealed earlier this year that Charlie Brooks would be returning to Walford as her iconic character Janine and the scenes did not disappoint.

At the end of Monday's episode, Zack Hudson took Albie to his doctor's appointment where Janine strutted into the appointment room as her alias Judith Bernstein, posing as a doctor.

Janine pretending to be Judith left Zack stunned as he commented: "I thought you'd be older…"

To which she cheekily replied with: "Actually, it's Dr Bernstein, Judith Bernstein. I am so sorry I'm late, there's always something keeping me away."

"But here I am… meter is running, give me your worst!" she added as the episode came to an end.

Taking to Twitter, show watchers shared their excitement over the scenes and the return of Janine, even if it was her pretending to be alias Judith — which she has used in the past.

One person said: "What an entrance!!!..so good to see Janine back in #EastEnders …welcome back @CharlieBrooks0 you've been missed," followed by smiling emojis.

A different account put: "OH MY GODDDD JANINE IS BACK!!!!!! I have waited for this moment for a LONG time #EastEnders.'

Another follower commented: "Janine Butcher is 100% the best Eastenders villain EVER #EastEnders."

While a different viewer added: "Omg that was EVERYTHING! I screamed of happiness seeing Janine back on my screen ahh welcome back @CharlieBrooks0 #EastEnders."

Only recently, Janine actress Charlie teased an "explosive fire" in Albert Square as she spoke about her dramatic return, which was confirmed in June.

Talking to media, the soap star, 40, said: "We know that it's going to be explosive. We might see some flames and a big fire!

"With some of the relationships, and some of the old characters that we see her working with, for me I know when it's exciting because I can feel it as an actress.

"I can feel it when two characters are sparking off each other. I'm like: 'This feels so good and so exciting'. So you've got a lot of that to look forward to. With her put downs and her wit, the writers have done a brilliant job so far of writing for her."

Janine's biggest storylines included murdering her husband Barry Evans (Shaun Williamson) by pushing him off a cliff on New Year's Day 2004, conspiring with another Walford villain Archie Mitchell (Larry Lamb) to defraud the Mitchell family, and murdering her fourth husband Michael Moon (Steve John Shepherd) to escape a custody battle.

She was last seen heading to Paris in 2014 to pick up her daughter Scarlett, whose father was Michael Moon, but her whereabouts have been unknown since then.
