Corrie’s Rebecca Ryan begs for scene with real-life co-star brother Jack James Ryan

Coronation Street star Rebecca Ryan has begged to share a scene with her real-life brother co-star Jack James Ryan.

The actress, 30, plays the chilling Lydia Chambers on the ITV soap while her sibling, 25, plays bad boy Jacob Hay.

Speaking to press recently about working with her real-life brother on the cobbles, Rebecca admitted that they are yet to share a scene together and that they make a special effort to spend time behind-the-scenes.

The Shameless star said: "We've not managed to have any scenes together. I was thinking can we not just have one where I'm in the background of one of his scenes and I'm just walking past but no, we've not managed to get one together yet which is such a shame."

Rebecca added: "Sometimes if we're both in I'll come in a bit early if he's in or I'll stay a bit later and I'll take him home, just so we can have a bit of time together. It's great when we're in at the same time."

However, this isn't the first show the two siblings have starred on together at the same time and the duo's paths crossed on Casualty in 2019.

Rebecca previously said: "Me and Jack did a bit on Casualty, he came onto the show while I was there. But we didn't get to work together on it. We were just kind of there at the same time."

It comes after Jack shared the sweet advice he gave his real-life sister co-star Rebecca, who he was "buzzing" to join the ITV soap as she is his "biggest inspiration".

Speaking to press about the advice he gave his sister prior to joining, he said: "One of the best things about Corrie is that everyone's so nice, so welcoming.

"So I knew she'd just settle right in, but beyond that, I told her where the canteen was, the toilets, and then she was good to go."

Speaking about having his sister on the cobbles, he added: "Honestly just [excited] beyond words! I was so buzzing when I found out she'd be joining the cast. She was my biggest inspiration growing up – I wanted to be an actor since I can remember.

"And a big factor of that was because since my sister was 11, she's been on TV every week, from Shameless to Waterloo Road to Casualty, and now to this.

"It's just been incredible. And I'm incredibly biased, but I think she is a stunning actor, and I think she's going to make an impact. I know she's going to make a great addition to the cast."

Talking about whether his character Jacob could ever share a scene with his sister's character Lydia, he admitted: "It would be so interesting to have a scene with Lydia.

"I don't think our storylines cross, sadly. But it would be so great to have a scene with Becky. And Mum would be dead proud that day!"
