Corrie Peter Barlow star Chris Gascoyne’s real-life wife set to join ITV soap

Coronation Street star Chris Gascoyne's real-life wife is joining the famous cobbles in upcoming episodes.

Chris has played the iconic Peter Barlow for decades, and it's about to become a family affair as his wife of 18 years Caroline Harding is rejoining the Weatherfield cast as a new doctor.

The Peter Barlow star is set to share the famous street with Caroline soon as she was spotted on set with her soap star beau recently.

Caroline has been in Corrie before, starring in the soap as a consultant who diagnosed Hope Stape with cancer back in 2015.

She's rejoining Weatherfield as a doctor, and it's believed her character will be involved with the heartbreaking storyline of Leanne Battersby and Steve McDonald's son Oliver.

In the harrowing plot, Leanne and Steve are in turmoil after their three-year-old son was diagnosed with mitochondrial disease, for which there is no cure.

Chris and Caroline have been married since 2002 and have three children together.

It's not her first soap role either, as Caroline has been in Emmerdale before, playing five different characters.

During her time on the soap set in Yorkshire, Caroline played Belinda Connors, Doctor Judd, Dr Garrett, a prosecution barrister and most recently Dr Todd in 2018.

She's also appeared in popular BBC soap EastEnders.

The actress has recently been seen on set of the iconic soap, and she was joined with her husband but it hasn't been revealed whether they will be in scenes together.
