Coronation Street’s Shona Platt exit story revealed as Julia Goulding leaves cobbles

Coronation Street has revealed Shona Platt's exit storyline on the ITV soap as Julia Goulding is set to leave the cobbles on maternity leave.

The actress, 37, welcomed her second child, a baby girl called Emmeline Beanie Silver, with husband Ben Silver in November and soap fans have been aware that her character would be leaving soon amid the happy news.

Only recently, Lily Platt was given an incredible opportunity to go to London for a six-week football training course and on Monday's episode it was decided the youngster would go.

However, David Platt was left concerned about leaving his estranged son, Max Turner, on the cobbles alone and it was decided that Shona would go with Lily, revealing they'd stay with Bethany Platt in London.

And now it has been confirmed that Shona will be leaving the cobbles to look after Lily during her incredible football opportunity in London.

It comes as Julia announced the birth of her baby girl in November.

Taking to Instagram, the star shared a snap of her and her husband Ben carrying their newborn daughter in a car seat.

Julia and Ben looked elated as they stood in the hospital hallway ready to take their newborn home.

Her caption read: "On Saturday our little girl arrived. We’re absolutely elated and Franklin is besotted with his little sister, Emmeline Beanie Silver. She’s perfect."

Many of Julia's followers sent their congratulations. One person wrote: "AWESOME NEWS! Congrats my mate, I hope it was a positive experience and you're all happy and healthy. What a treat! We're not far behind you….. Sending much love your way our kid."

A second said: "Gorgeous name. She's going to make her mark in the world. Congratulations. Look after yourself."

"Julia!! I knew it was a girl. What a gorgeous name. Congratulations superstar," another added.

And a fourth person wrote: "Congratulations Julia, lovely news. Sending hugs to you and your family."

Julia and Ben welcomed their first child Franklin Wolf in November 2019. The couple also married that year after meeting in 2015.

The star revealed that she was expecting her second child by announcing it at the British Soap Awards red carpet back in June.
