Coronation Street fans will recognise mysterious newcomer from rival soap role

Coronation Street viewers will be introduced to a brand new character in upcoming scenes but some may recognise him from another soap.

Howard makes his debut during Wednesday's (November 9) episode as he introduces himself to Bernie Winter (Jane Hazelgrove) as Fern Lindon's (Gabrielle Glaister) ex-husband.

Actor Gordon Peaston played Trevor Barnes in BBC soap EastEnders earlier this year.

The character was a Addiction Counsellor that is friend of Tom "Rocky" Cotton (Brian Conley) and give his business card to Dotty Cotton (Milly Zero).

As well as appearing in soaps, Gordon has also appeared in Cold Feet, Taggart, Bad Girls and more recently Casualty.

Fans will be seeing a lot more of the TV star as he takes centre stage in a new Corrie storyline.

Bernie opens a letter in upcoming scenes and it’s the date for her plea hearing.

She tells Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) she intends to track down Fern before her court appearance.

Bernie pulls up outside a country club, dressed as her lookalike Fern.

The kebab shop worker tries to dupe the receptionist into revealing Fern’s home address, but to no avail.

Howard, a club member, approaches Bernie wondering who she is.

When Bernie makes out she’s Fern Lindon, Howard reveals that Fern is his ex-wife.

Bernie explains to Howard that Fern framed her for a robbery.

Howard reveals that Fern’s a con-artist and Bernie begs him to help her but will he help her?

Corrie spoilers have revealed that Bernie gets kidnapped next week.

She suggests to Howard and Dev they throw a party to celebrate the fake lottery win and post pictures online to reel Fern in.

In the Bistro, Howard, Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell, Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) and Bernie stage a lottery winner’s party.

Howard calls at No.5 and shares the good news that Fern has been in touch and wants to meet him in Freshco’s car park.
