Chrisley Knows Best star Todd Chrisley hospitalized for coronavirus as he fights fraud charges – The Sun

CHRISLEY Knows Best patriarch, Todd, has been hospitalized after testing positive for coronavirus.

His daughter, Savannah, made the shocking announcement on her Instagram – just hours after her parents uploaded a podcast where they revealed he had been showing symptoms for the virus.

The 51-year-old father of five had been fighting the symptoms for some days before begging his wife to take him to the hospital.

Newlywed Savannah – who is very close to her father – recounted on her Instagram: "COVID-19: Dad was diagnosed with the coronavirus about 2.5 weeks ago..and I have never been so scared in my life.

"When everything started with COVID-19 I was like a lot of u…my mindset was 'Wash your hands, don’t touch people, and you’ll be ok…' BUT BOY HAS THAT IRRESPONSIBLE MINDSET CHANGED!

"When dad started getting sick I immediately started worrying…he and I are the worriers of the bunch. After a couple days mom and I talked him into going to urgent care…he went in and he was showing all symptoms of COVID-19 so they tested him."

She continued her lengthy post: "Here in TN Vanderbilt was extremely prepared for testing and has testing at 15 or so of their walk in clinics. So before people say…'OH HE ONLY GOT TESTED BECAUSE HES A CELEBRITY…' u are WRONG!

"He went into an urgent care just like the rest of u would. After getting tested he went back home and stayed quarantined in his bedroom for 7 days and then his test came back..POSITIVE..when mom and I read that our hearts dropped.

"Dads symptoms were worsening as days went on..finally at 3am on a Sunday he woke mom up saying he has to go to the ER..he couldn’t fight it any longer."

The 22-year-old pageant queen went on to explain that because she didn't know how he was once he went into the hospital, she broke down and "begged God to not take him."

She said: "I was so desperate that I dropped photos of our family off at the hospital and said 'If he sees these I know he’ll keep fighting!'"

She also pleaded with her followers to continue practicing social distancing and to stay home.

Todd also opened up about his battle with the virus on his podcast with his wife, Julie, and explained he had spent several days in the hospital but was finally home.

He told listeners: "I have been battling corona for three weeks, I was in the hospital for four and a half days and it has been the sickest I have been.

"I cannot tell you about a moment in my life where I have been as sick as I was with the corona."

Julie also chimed in and said: "We've been married for 25 years and in 25 years, I have never seen him as sick as he has been in the past few weeks."

The couple also called for social distancing and for people to "take it seriously."

Todd's sickness comes just as the couple is battling fraud charges.

Todd and Julie turned themselves in to the Federal Bureau of Investigation on August 14, 2019 – one day after being hit with a 12-count indictment that spanned nine years.

The indictment, obtained by PEOPLE, alleged that the Chrisleys participated in tax evasion, wire fraud and conspiracy bank fraud.

The Chrisleys also allegedly submitted false documents to banks when applying for loans, including fabricated bank statements listing inflated account balances, personal financial statements containing false information about available funds, false invoices, and false audit paperwork.

In October, they were cleared of the state tax evasion charges but still face federal charges for allegedly evading federal taxes in the same years.
