The Celebrity Great British Bake Off is meant to be a bit of a laugh to raise money for charity – but this week’s episode becomes an absolute nightmare as Joe Sugg ends up needing serious medical attention in the tent.
Medics are rushed in to help Strictly star Joe after he collapses on the floor after slicing off the top of his finger while making a tray bake.
While initially OK with the situation, the star suddenly comes over feeling queazy at the loss of blood, and attempts to take a five minute breather.
However, he doesn’t make it, and passes out in front of the horrified cast and crew who rush in to help.
In terrifying scenes, Joe is seen unresponsive as a paramedic sits over him to try and get him conscious.
Joe isn’t the only one to suffer an injury in the tent, with Alex Jones failing to lock in a mixing bowl in an electric mixer, causing it to explode and impaling her hand on shards of glass.
The incident required stitches which she had administered on set because she wanted to complete the challenge.
Previously speaking about the incident, The One Show’s Alex said: ‘I’m saying “I’m absolutely fine” before realising there’s a massive shard of glass sticking out of my hand.
‘I had to go straight off to the paramedic for stitches.’
In a seriously badass move, Alex was so determined to finish that she was stitched up without anaesthetic – because she wanted to get back in the tent faster.
She added: ‘He said “I’m just going to put in the anaesthetic” and I was like “No, there’s no time for that, I have a showstopper to make, just do it!”’
The pair are up against James Blunt and Alison Hammond on today’s show.
Celebrity Great British Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer airs Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
