BBC Breakfast anchor Dan Walker was forced to reveal some frightening news to viewers after Russia reportedly bombed a state administration building in Ukraine.

The BBC presenter, 44, told viewers that a state building in Central Kharkiv, Ukraine, had been bombed by what was thought to be a Russian strike on Tuesday morning (February).

Dan and co-star Sally were able to show BBC viewers a clip of the horrifying moment the missile "slammed" into the government building and resulted in a devastating blast which blew out windows.

Watching the video, gobsmacked Dan branded it "awful" and Sally called it "shocking".

Breaking the news to viewers, Dan said: "We are trying to bring you the very latest from what's happening in Ukraine this morning, and we have some developments to bring you, and some pictures to show you from Cenntral Kharkiv, which has been hit by what we believe to be a Russian.

"This morning that appeared to target some government offices in a place called Freedom Square, which is in the city centre."

Sally began: "We're going to show the pictures now. A viral video on Ukrainian social media channels shows a missile slamming into the front of the regional state administration building…."

  • Dancing on Ice's Connor Ball was rushed to hospital with nightmare panic attacks

Dan cut in: "It looks awful, doesn't it?", to which Sally agreed: "Yeah."

Describing the moment more, Sally said: "That's outside of that building. You can see, those pictures are really quite shocking. It causes a huge fiery explosion which actually does blow out windows and some of the nearby cars."
