During Wednesday’s BBC Breakfast, host Dan Walker got into a heated discussion with Education Secretary Gavin Williamson as he tried to get a direct answer over school budgets as he asked him whether the government was “trying to do it on the cheap”. He later went on to grill Williamson over whether schools should extend the hours of a school day – which the MP thought would be beneficial.
The segment certainly sparked a reaction from BBC Breakfast viewers, with one tweeting: “Unbelievable what is it with these government ministers, none of them can answer a direct question.”
Another tweeted: “After so many failures and chaos, I really don’t understand how this man has kept his job. Extending the school day isn’t an answer.”
A third penned: “#BBCBreakfast is Williamson the poorest Education secretary ever? Can’t believe he’s still in post.”
“Just watched Dan Walker ‘interviewing’ in the BBC way, the odious Gavin Williamson, letting him waffle endlessly,” a fourth wrote.
