Amber Gill has revealed she nearly walked out of the Love Island villa midway through the series.
The Geordie beautician and Irish ruby player Greg O'Shea took home the £50k prize fund during Monday night's final – but her experience could have been very different.
Weeks before she was crowned the winner, Amber considered quitting after her explosive clash with Michael Griffiths.
Speaking to Mirror Online, Amber admitted she almost left the villa after returning from Casa Amor and finding her man standing with Joanna Chimonides.
On when she felt like leaving, she said: "Definitely after I walked back from Casa Amor. It was quite a hard situation for me to be in.
"You never normally watch an ex crack on with a new girl. And sitting by yourself. Everybody is in couples.
"It did run through my head. 'Maybe I should leave'. But I know I’m a strong person and I thought 'you’ll regret it if you leave – and I know I definitely would of now."
Amber was shocked to discover that Michael and Joanna had been spotted seemingly having a kiss on a night out.
Stunned Amber asked if they were actually a couple, pointing out that he did make a massive U-turn and claimed he wanted her back.
On Michael cracking on with Joann again, she said: "Am I surprised by that? To be fair I didn’t see much of their relationship. I don’t really know how they were.
"Michael definitely tried to come back to me so I think it’s a bit weird. I don’t really want to say too much."
Despite their dramatic bust-up, Amber does believe that Michael did have genuine feelings for her and they had a good friendship.
However, she does not believe that she would have won the series if she had chosen Michael during that tense recoupling.
She said: "I don’t think I would have won if I'd been with Michael. Me and Greg were a good match and he came in when I needed a gent and I feel like that's why it went for us.
"If I'd gone for Michael it would have been she’s gone back to the guy who didn’t treat her well.
"I don’t think he will be kicking himself. I think he was happy for me either way. I think everything happens for a reason. We’ll have to see what his reason is."
