Stevie Nicks: This Taylor Swift Song 'Reminds Me of Me in a Lot of Ways'

Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks had a lot of kind words to say about Taylor Swift‘s songs. Nicks compared Swift to two famous songwriters from her generation. In addition, she said one of Swift’s tracks had a special place in her heart. Nicks said the song reminded her of herself.

Why Stevie Nicks likes Taylor Swift’s songs so much

In 2010, Swift was included among the Time 100, which is Time’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world. Nicks wrote an essay for the Time 100 praising Swift. Nicks said women like Swift would be the salvation of the music industry. She also said Swift wrote songs for “the universal woman.”

“Taylor reminds me of myself in her determination and her childlike nature,” Nicks wrote. “It’s an innocence that’s so special and so rare. This girl writes the songs that make the whole world sing, like Neil Diamond or Elton John. She sings, she writes, she performs, she plays great guitar. Taylor can do ballads that could be considered pop or rock and then switch back into country.”

Stevie Nicks really likes ‘Today Was a Fairytale’ and this Florence and the Machine song

During an interview with HuffPost, Nicks praised Swift again. She said one of Swift’s songs reminded her of herself. “There’s this song that Taylor wrote called ‘Today Was a Fairytale,’” Nicks said. “And I hear that and I absolutely worked with her on the Grammys a couple of years ago and that song, I was actually going to sing a little of it with her, so I learned it.

“And then we ended up not doing it because she started out with that,” Nicks continued. “But it stayed in my heart forever. And it just reminds me of me in a lot of ways.” Nicks cited “Today Was a Fairytale” and Florence and the Machine’s “Shake It Out” as examples of radio songs that drew influence from her work.
