Sally Nugent has wardrobe blunder as she unveils ‘snazzy’ new BBC Breakfast set

BBC Breakfast presenter Sally Nugent suffered a wardrobe blunder today while unveiling the “snazzy” new set on Instagram.

The 50-year-old showed off the new set created especially for today’s Olympics coverage, but failed to notice that she had dressed in the same colours.

Sally sported a blue shirt and bright red trousers, matching the red couch and blue backdrop behind her.

She took to Instagram to share a photo of herself sitting in front of the set, ahead of her stint on the show for her 25,500 followers.

Captioning the snap, she wrote: "Snazzy new set @bbcbreakfast.”

However, her co-star Louise Minchin soon pointed out that Sally was blending into her background.

The famous red couch was embellished with Team GB cushions while pictures from the Tokyo games were displayed behind her.

Louise compared the set to a grotto or shrine, causing Sally to hit back: “I think it’s just fabulous.”

She then drew attention to her outfit blunder, commenting: “I didn’t realise I’d dressed to match the entire set.”

“It’s quite difficult to see you with the blue on blue," Louise added.

“I’m here!” Sally joked, waving her arms in the air.

"It’s very understated. It's very much like my living room at home at the moment," she quipped.

The new set comes as today is the last day of Olympics coverage, with the 2020 games coming to a close yesterday.

On today’s show, Sally was able to interview gold medal winning athlete, Max Whitlock who won the men's pommel horse competition, making him the most successful British gymnast in history.

Ahead of the interview, Louise had a go on the gymnast's favourite apparatus which had been set up in the studio.

She could be seen on the pommel horse in a picture shared on Twitter, showing that it was not as easy as Max made it look.

"Good morning, back to the 03.45 #BBCBreakfast alarm call and guess who is going to be chatting to us today? #olympics," she captioned the snap for her 213,200 followers.
