Kate Ferdinand fans rush to support her as she shares honest ‘dark spot’ selfie

Former The Only Way Is Essex star Kate Ferdinand has opened up about the dark pigmentation above her upper lip and fans have flooded her with support online.

The 30-year-old decided to share a bare-faced selfie to her 1.4million followers on Friday to address the hateful comments she has received about her appearance she has received over the years.

The doting mum-of-one decided to show one of her biggest insecurities online as she candidly spoke about her skin in a vulnerable post online.

In the caption, she shared her long battle with the pigmentation on her face and spoke frankly about what the “dark thing above her lip” is.

After years of covering up her skin with heavy makeup, the TOWIE star decided to stop hiding her insecurity in an effort to love herself just the way she is.

In a lengthy Instagram post, the blonde bombshell shared her thoughts on the topic alongside the beautiful no-makeup selfie.

She wrote: “PIGMENTATION. ‘Kate what’s the dark thing above your lip?’

“Me without makeup. For the last few years even with SPF 50 and a hat, as soon as the sun comes out my face looks like a patch work.”

She continued: “I always feel so insecure about it & it really does get me down, I try to cover it at all costs.

“For much of my life I've felt like I have to try my best to be perfect. I'm fed up of having crazy unrealistic expectations all of the time.

“Although I make it hard for myself sometimes, I'm trying my best to love myself as I am.”

And fans soon flooded the reality star’s Instagram account after her moment of vulnerability as users thanked her for honesty and shared their own insecurities online.

Among some of the celebs who spoke up, Love Island winner Dani Dyer admitted she was going through a similar situation herself.

She wrote: “I’m going through this right now so glad you’ve shared this Kate.”

Danielle Lloyd added: “Well done @xkateferdinand I get trolled all the time for my pigmentation it gets worse with pregnancy also thank you for sharing and showing it’s normal.”

Fans also spoke out about their issues with their insecurities, with many putting the change in their skin down to the contraceptive pill or their pregnancy.

One fan wrote: “I had this for years and it turned out to be due to medication which I was on at the time (my pill), I used to hate it so much and I had no idea until I came off that particular pill.”

Another added: “I’m so happy you shared this! This always happens to me to and everyone always asks.”

Overwhelmed with the positive response she received, Kate added: “I can’t believe how many of you have similar, I'm just reading through all of your messages. I’m glad I’m not alone.”
