Jacob Fain to Head Research and Analytics at Elektra Music Group

Jacob Fain has joined Elektra Music Group as senior vice president, A&R and head of research and analytics, it was announced on Thursday (Nov. 19). Fain arrives from Sony/ATV Music Publishing where he spent 13 years, most recently in the position of SVP, A&R and Research/Analytics. In this newly created role, Fain will report to Gregg Nadel, co-president of Elektra Music Group, and be based in Los Angeles.

Said Nadel and co-president Mike Easterlin in announcing Fain’s hiring: “Discovering and breaking new talent has always been a combination of gut instinct, reading fan reaction, and helping artists bring out their best as performers and songwriters. With the convergence of creative expertise and analytics being more critical than ever to this process, we’re thrilled to welcome Jacob to the team to help us connect the dots. Jacob has a wealth of knowledge, incredible instincts, and amazing taste, all of which will be key as we continue to sign original artists and build the most innovative approach to artist discovery and development.”

At Sony/ATV, Fain is credited with signing hit DJ duo The Chainsmokers, R&B/soul star Leon Bridges, alternative group Of Monsters And Men, Chase Rice, who co-wrote the Florida Georgia Line hit “Cruise,” and hip-hop newcomer Russ. He helped develop and run Sony/ATV’s research and analytics department, which serves eight offices in territories including New York, Los Angeles, Nashville, Miami, London, Stockholm and Sydney.

Prior to Sony, he held positions at RCA Records and Republic Records.
