Robert Irwin, 17, has been forced to clarify an awkward comment about his sister Bindi Irwin in an interview on live television in Australia.
Eight months pregnant, Bindi is expecting her first child with husband Chandler Powell.
Robert and Terri appeared on Channel Seven's Sunrise last week to discuss the latest season of their family reality show Crikey! It's the Irwins.
But as wife of the late Steve Irwin, Terri, 56, talked about Bindi and Chandler’s impending arrival, Robert couldn’t resist chiming in.
Clearly too over-excited to consider the ill-timed remark, Robert declared: “She's massive now!”
Alarmed by her son’s awkward comment, Robert’s mum Terri Irwin punched him in the arm in response.
The presenters started laughing as Robert desperately tried to row back from his blunder.
“Like, in a good way,” he clarified with a giggle. “It's special.”
Presenter Samantha Armytage tried to help him recover as she teased: “Spoken like a true little brother.”
Moving the conversation hastily along, host David “Kochie” Koch wondered if Bindi was actually going to have her baby in a hospital rather than their wildlife clinic the Australia Zoo.
“She's not going to our wildlife hospital, no,” Robert grinned.

Considering how it would work if Bindi did choose a birth in the style of their beloved animal kingdom, Steve Irwin’s son then joked: “We do have incredible facilities here though. She could if she wanted to!”
“There is a little spot between the injured kangaroos and koalas,” Terri added.
Returning to Robert’s earlier comments, Samantha finished the conversation by warning the teen he would be in “so much trouble” with Bindi when she watched his interview.
“I’m in so much trouble!” Robert nodded with an embarrassed laugh.
Bindi and Chandler shared their exciting baby news in August 2020 and the pair are expecting a daughter next month.
