Rihanna is a woman of many secrets and fans have been left to speculate after spotting her name mysteriously among the Black Panther 2 cast on Google.
The Work singer became a trending Twitter topic on Monday after eagle-eyed fans noticed she appears with stars like Michael B Jordan, Letitia Wright and Lupita Nyong’o when a simple ‘Black Panther 2’ is entered into the search engine.
There’s very little to link Rihanna to the Marvel sequel of the hit 2018 blockbuster and it could simply be a Google algorithm going haywire. Of course, fans are hoping this is the first clue to suggest the singer has been cast for the sequel.
‘RIHANNA IS GONNA BE IN BLACK PANTHER 2?!?! IM BOUT TO PASS OUT,’ one Twitter user reacted.
Another tweeted in similar fashion: ‘Rihanna’s gonna be in Black Panther 2??? I’m deffo looking forward to this.’
One fan joked: ‘Send me the link to the album and I won’t tell anyone you’re in Black Panther II.’
Another suggested Rihanna’s involvement could be with the Black Panther 2 soundtrack and wondered: ‘Rihanna in Black Panther 2? Is she releasing an album along with the movie?’
Rihanna, 32, has a few acting credits under her belt with roles in Ocean’s Eight and Bates Motel.
It was announced last week that the Black Panther sequel will begin filming in July 2021, almost a year after the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman.
The actor, who played T’Challa in the first Black Panther and several other Marvel films, died in August following a secret battle with colon cancer.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the currently-untitled sequel will begin filming in Atlanta in July, for a shoot that will last ‘for upwards of six months’.
While the cast has not been confirmed, Wright, Nyong’o, Winston Duke and Angela Bassett are all expected to return, with some sources saying that Wright’s character Shuri may take a bigger role.
The publication also reports that Narcos: Mexico star Tenoch Huerta is in talks to join the film as one of the antagonists.
It’s unclear how Marvel will progress without Boseman but executive producer Victoria Alonso did confirm that the actor would not be inserted into the movie with CGI.
Metro.co.uk has contacted Rihanna’s reps for comment.
