Dan Walker, 44, has posted a “sad” farewell message for co-star Greg Wise, 55, after his exit from Strictly on Sunday. Greg was the third celebrity to be eliminated from the show this series.

He is one of those who lifts others.

Dan posted the message on his Instagram story to his 230,000 followers.

He said: “Very sad to see Greg leave #Strictly.

“He is one of those who lifts others.

“I will remember the jam he made for everyone, the kind words after my fluffed foxtrot & the way he looked at Judi during the dance off.

Greg added: “He was so happy she had done well. Class!

“Take care Greg.”

Greg performed the samba to Macarena by Los Del Rio in the dance off against Judi Love but his performance was not enough for the judges to save him.

Shirley Ballas said: “Well I counted all the mistakes and from what I saw I would have saved Greg and Karen.”

Anton Du Beke added: “I felt that the nerves got to both of the couples in the face off, which is not surprising really, and they both made quite a lot of mistakes, but one couple maintained an element of composure through the dance, and that would be Judi and Graziano.”

After learning of his elimination, Greg told host Tess Daly: “I have had an amazing time, I feel unbelievably privileged and thank you all for having me.”

His exit from the show comes after Craig Revel Horwood scored a three for their routine.

Their total of 19 put them at the bottom of the leaderboard, with Sara Davies at the top.

Judi danced the Waltz with partner Graziano di Prima on Saturday night’s show, dedicating the routine to her late parents.

She said: “They loved their dancing, they loved their music, they are my heroes.

“I lost my mum about 11 years ago, my dad five months ago.”

After her performance the comedian seemed close to tears as she spoke about her sister Sharon in the audience.

Judi said: “When my mum first had her aneurysm when I was nine, my sister was only 18 and she fully took care of me and our home, so she is fully one of my heroes.”

Dan performed the Cha Cha on Saturday night with his partner Nadiya Bychkova, scoring 26.

Shirley said about the performance: “You might be 6ft6 but you can move fabulously.”

Dan replied: “If I can do that, anyone can.”
