Tom Cruise ’caused absolute chaos’ at Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations

Phillip Schofield has revealed that Tom Cruise "caused absolute chaos" at the Queen 's Platinum Jubilee Celebration on Sunday 15 May.

The actor, whose daughter lives an "ordinary" life in Brixton and is married to a British man, was slammed by viewers for "using" the occasion to plug his latest film, a sequel to classic '80s movie Top Gun.

And now it turns out the 59 year old star decided to ignore protocol and walk through the historic town of Windsor, rather than being driven, which resulted in him being mobbed by fans.

Speaking on This Morning on Monday 16 Ma), Phillip spilled the beans to co-host Holly Willoughby.

"He caused absolute chaos in Windsor because he decided to walk to the studio," he said. "So the police then obviously had to do serious crowd control at the drop of a hat, but he met everybody."

Phillip was co-hosting coverage of the celebration with ITV News at Ten presenter Julie Etchingham, where the pair interviewed Tom ahead of his part in proceedings. Despite Phillip's revelation, the This Morning star said the actor was "the most delightful man".

"When we did our interview he then went downstairs and met everybody, went into rooms to meet people and made proper eye contact. He is a class act," he said.

The ITV presenter shared a selfie of the pair of them looking dapper, with both adjusting their bowties in the shot.

Referencing the snap, Holly commented: "Look at those two handsome fellas. That's a great photo."

During his interview with Phillip and Julie, the American actor was full of praise for Her Majesty the Queen and being part of her Jubilee celebrations.

Tom gushed: "It is a real privilege. This is a woman who I greatly admire. She has tremendous dignity and what she has accomplished is historic.

"I just have great respect for her. I really love the tradition. And what a moment. That's a lot of history there."

He added: "Presidents, world leaders, people of all walks of life, not just in America but the world, knows dignity and devotion and kindness – something I've always felt about her."

However, a large portion of the interview was focused on his sequel to Top Gun, with several viewers left confused and annoyed.

One wrote: "The #ITV #platinumjubilee celebration programme is very strange. I had no idea it was even on. Why isn't it being broadcast during the jubilee long weekend? Why has Tom Cruise just promoted his new film? It seems to be just clips of random celebs. I'm very confused."

"Could not understand why Tom Cruise was part of this #Jubilee program," another wrote. "Now I know. He has a movie to plug. I mean that whole interview was very little to do with The Queen. Surprised he didn’t break out the Scientology pamphlets."

The celebration concert featured performances from Gregory Porter, Keala Settle, and Katherine Jenkins, alongside an array of celebrities including Damian Lewis and Omid Djalili.
