Longtime broadcaster Piers Morgan is leaving ITV show Good Morning Britain after storming off of his set on March 9, 2021, following his comments about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s tell-all interview. “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain,” a statement from the network read. “ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”
The news of Morgan’s departure comes after U.K.’s Office of Communications received over 41,000 complaints following Morgan’s remarks about the Duke and Duchess’s interview on his March 8, 2021, show, the network noted. “I’m sorry, I don’t believe a word she says,” he stated while discussing their claims of racism and Meghan’s contemplation of suicide.
“We have launched an investigation into Monday’s episode of Good Morning Britain under our harm and offense rules,” the network revealed. Morgan tried to walk back his remarks the following day, before storming off of his set and later handing in his resignation. Keep scrolling for more details.
