'The Pioneer Woman': Ree Drummond Reveals Her Go-To 'Flying Ritual' and Fans Can Relate

Some people find having simple rituals when traveling puts them at ease. Ree Drummond shared her tried-and-true approach for a calm flight experience, explaining her go-to move as she traveled to New York for The Pioneer Woman cookbook launch.

Ree Drummond shared her ‘flying ritual’

On Oct. 17, Drummond shared a glimpse on Instagram of her “flying ritual” as she left Oklahoma and headed to New York to promote her newest cookbook, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Super Easy.

Drummond posted a look at what she’s reading on the flight and how it’s an important part of her process when traveling. The pic showed a Time magazine, featuring Jane Goodall on the cover, set on The Pioneer Woman star’s lap. Fans even got a glimpse at part of Drummond’s travel outfit — jeans and a pair of brown boots.

“Do you have a flying ritual that calms your nerves, makes you feel better about leaving home for a few days, and keeps your mind (and central nervous system) in check?” she asked in the caption. “Mine is buying a copy of Time magazine. Well, and string cheese and gum, too.”

In her Instagram story, Drummond shared one other article of clothing she’s wearing for good travel vibes: husband Ladd’s socks! She pointed out that she “actually paid money” for the hole in her jeans, in case anyone was wondering.

Drummond also explained in the comments where she’s traveling and her fans are very excited. “New York for my cookbook launch!,” she shared. “I have a signing and will be on some morning shows/talk shows! Haven’t been to NY in two years.”

Her fans shared some of their favorite travel rituals

Many of her fans were on the same page with picking up a magazine for a flight. “The airport is the only time I ever buy magazines! It’s definitely relaxing,” one person commented. Other fans noted how they like to buy a new book for traveling and one person said they pay it forward with their magazine. “I buy a great magazine (probably filled with too much gossip) then leave it on the plane for the next guy,” they explained.

Some fans mentioned bringing Drummond’s magazine when they fly, as one person noted, “A Pioneer Woman magazine, a huge water bottle, wireless earbuds, and a good audiobook.”

Others shared that they get wine or a cocktail on the flight as part of their ritual. When one fan wrote, “Alcohol. Jk…kinda,” Drummond responded, “It’s too early. I think?”

One person confirmed, “String cheese basically cures all ailments. Trust me, I’m a doctor,” to which Drummond shared, “I’m so glad to have this affirmation. I’m going to live forever, then!”

Another experienced traveler noted, “I was a flight attendant and never was nervous until iI was a passenger. Say a prayer for the crew then look out a window if you can, watch the wings. It helps to know you feel more sitting than really is going on. A good glass of wine always helps!”

One fan shared the ritual they always have to follow: “I watch Breakfast at Tiffany’s on the plane. Yes, every time.”
