Sturgill Simpson has revealed that he has tested positive for COVID-19.
“After almost one month without any symptoms, I received a call from the Nashville CDC stating that my test resulted in a positive detection,” he said in a lengthy Instagram post last Friday.
Simpson shared a photo of him lying on a hospital bed wearing a mask over his mouth, which he said was taken on March 13, when his wife took him to their local hospital with symptoms of chest pain, fever, and pre-stroke blood pressure levels.
He said a doctor refused to test him saying that he “did not fit testing criteria.”
According to the doctor, it was impossible that Simpson had contracted the virus due to its extreme rarity and that it was not in Western Europe yet.
The country music singer-songwriter also added that a CDC nurse told him that it reacts differently in a case by case basis and the White House briefings and the information they are providing is “basically pure speculation causing fear and that the only thing anybody knows is that we don’t really know much yet.”
