Newly Unearthed Video Shows John Lennon, Yoko Ono Rehearsing ‘Give Peace A Chance’

A newly unearthed video released by the John Lennon Estate shows John Lennon and Yoko Ono rehearsing “Give Peace A Chance,” sitting side-by-side in a bed at the Sheraton Oceanus Hotel in the Bahamas.

The video, shot by Lennon’s cameraman Nick Knowland and sound recordist Mike Lax, dates back to May 25, 1969. Lennon premiered the song about a week later, performing the song during their second Bed-In for Peace at Montreal’s Queen Elizabeth Hotel.

Lennon is seen mumbling, “Everybody’s talking about revolution, masturbation, hasturbation, constipation … uh … rasturbation, cake, chocolate cake … uh… fake, cake, glasses, passes,” while Ono looks at him, as if saying, “where are you going with this?”

The Lennon Estate has released the visual as part of a new box set The John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band – The Ultimate Collection, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the famous Bed-In for Peace. The set is due out on April 23 via Capitol/UMe.
