Gardeners' World: Monty Don says he’ll ‘be away’

Monty Don, who recently celebrated his birthday, told viewers during tonight’s episode of Gardeners’ World that the popular gardening programme will be taken off-air next week. The BBC presenter revealed that he will not be back on the show for a fortnight.
The 66-year-old previously addressed his show absence after taking to Twitter and sharing some exciting news with viewers.
Speaking on Gardeners’ World, Monty said: “I’m afraid that this is it this week and we’re off-air next week.
“But I’ll be back here in a fortnight’s time at 8pm. So, I’ll see you then.”
Viewers flocked to comment on the news, as one wrote: “Whaaaat, no #GardenersWorld next week? Loved seeing the sweet peas this week, mine only just starting to flower.”
Another typed: “No Gardener’s World for two weeks?! I can’t wait that long.”
“#GardenersWorld ‘Off air next week’ – How will we know what to do in our gardens next weekend?!” a third commented.
A fourth added: “We’ll miss you next week @GWandShows but will look forward to the next programme.”
While a fifth commented: “Off-air!!!! Outrageous! #shoutyhalfhour #GardenersWorld.”
According to the BBC’s listings, The Open Golf Championship will be replacing Gardeners’ World.
The BBC star confirmed that all is not lost as the Gardeners’ World favourite explained he is filming a gardening special.
Monty has actually been filming a special episode of the programme which is expected to air next month.

“Am having a day filming in the garden for a special GW that will be aired next month. But wine will be taken later this evening.”
Fans flocked to comment on the post as they offered birthday wishes to the gardening expert.
Meanwhile, Monty shared if viewers need some gardening pleasure then viewers can tune into another show special.
Taking to the micro-blogging site, he retweeted a link from TVO which is airing one of his documentaries.
The post read: “Monty Don travels Japan through spring and autumn in search of its most beautiful gardens. Watch @TheMontyDon Friday nights at 7pm on TVO or catch up later at http://tvo.org.”
According to BBC listings, Monty Don’s Japanese Gardens will air on BBC Two next week.
The second episode will be available the following week.

Gardeners’ World returns to BBC Two on July 23 at 9pm.
