Maura Higgins ‘couldn’t handle’ Giovanni Pernice’s ‘amazing bond’ with Rose amid ‘split’

Maura Higgins “couldn’t handle” Giovanni Pernice’s “amazing bond” with his Strictly Come Dancing partner Rose Ayling-Ellis, a source has told OK! .

Maura, 30, and Giovanni, 31, sparked split rumours earlier this week when the pair deleted all traces of each other on Instagram.

And now a source has revealed they have parted ways, with the former Love Islander finding the Strictly star’s hectic schedule difficult to handle.

“Giovanni is taking Strictly really seriously and he’s got a great relationship with Rose,” our source said.

“They are doing so enormously well and are getting so much love from the public.”

The source continued: “Strictly is such hard work and all your time is taken up with the show, so Maura wasn’t given much of his time. Sadly, the writing was written on the wall.

“Giovanni wants to win the show. He’s got such an amazing bond with Rose and Maura couldn’t handle it.”

Giovanni previously told OK! that Maura “loved” Rose, 26, who has been in a relationship with her boyfriend Sam for over seven years.

“Maura’s been very supportive. She’s the one I go home to, there’s a dinner ready and I have someone to talk to. She loves Rose as well,” he admitted.

Opening up about working with the EastEnders actress, who is the show’s first deaf contestant, he added: “It’s a privilege to be dancing with her.

"She’s such a lovely girl and she’s made me push myself even more and change the way I teach.

“We’re just constantly learning and finding our own way. We’ve reached a point where we don’t even need the interpreter any more. The more time we spend together, the better it gets.

“When I heard Rose was going to be on the show I really wanted her as my partner. She keeps saying she’s grateful to be dancing with me, but I’m the grateful one!”

It's been reported that Maura has been left “devastated” by the split.

A source told The Sun: "It's all over for now. Maura's absolutely devastated, it appears the Strictly curse has struck again.

"Pals are hoping that they can patch things up. But only time will tell whether Giovanni's got the time.

"He's been working 24/7 on the show practising with celeb partner Rose, and they've become really good friends. He's even been learning sign language, showing it off on social media.

"Maura's decided to take a step back and let him concentrate on the show."

Maura and Giovanni started dating earlier this year before confirming their romance with a PDA-packed Instagram post in July.
