Lucy Spraggan has split from her wife Georgina Gordon after "six years of joy".
The X Factor star, 28, took to Instagram to announce the break up, three years after they tied the knot.
She said: "It's with sadness to let you know that after nearly 6 years of joy, fun and true love Georgina and I have decided to part ways.
"We have shared the most amazing times and life together, and we are truly grateful for knowing love at its full capacity."
She added: "We will continue on our paths as ultimate friends, and dog Mums, united by the bond and memories we will always have.
"We are eternally thankful for the support you have offered to us; in this time of hardship we we appreciate space and time to deal with the change."
Back in May, it was revealed that the couple had opened up their home to 12 foster children, and that they were having fertility treatment.
At the time, Lucy wrote about her experiences for the Mirror.
She said: "A common misconception is that foster kids are so troubled they’re going to come into your house and smash everything up.
"But since my wife of three years Gina and I got into fostering, we have found it nothing but rewarding.
"We were watching the local news and there was a report on Syrian refugee children in Manchester needing somewhere to stay.
"The next day we headed to our local fostering centre in Stockport to see if we could help.
"The staff explained in our area there were 250 children at any one time who need a home.
"That shocked us.
"Not just refugees but local children too.
"We knew straight away we were going to apply to become carers."
Lucy detailed how rewarding fostering had been for them, and said it was good practice as they were having fertility treatment.
Lucy recently opened up about "dark times" she's been through as she revealed her incredible weight loss.
The singer, who was forced to drop out of the ITV contest in 2012 due to personal reasons, revealed her transformation with before and after pictures.
The before image shows tattooed Lucy crouching down on the floor in a baggy T-shirt and with her natural dark hair.
The after picture shows a slimmed down Lucy looking glamorous with lightened hair in a choppy style.
Lucy thanked her personal trainer friend for his help as she opened up.
She said: "I was looking back at a few pictures of some old times today. In a lot of them I was in a very, very dark place. I wasn’t aware that so many of the things I was doing and the ways I was treating myself were doing me so much harm.
"Lots has gone on since then; I met and married my beautiful wife, I’ve sought proper help (something that is ongoing now) and my career has become what I always wanted (and I am driven by that every single day).
"The biggest change has been through my diet and lifestyle and I have been lucky enough to have been guided through this by a friend of more than 13 years."
She added: "This sounds cliched but he helped me learn how to appreciate myself and gain the confidence to feel the way I do now."
At the same time, Lucy hit back at her fans who criticised her for changing her look.
