Luann de Lesseps is ready for the next phase of her life.
But, first, the long-time Real Housewives of New York City star would like to acknowledge how she got here in the first place.
Late on Wednesday, the Bravo personality confirmed to Instagram followers that she has officially completed her one-year probation sentence, the one brought on by her arrest for battery, disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest on Christmas Eve 2017 in Palm Beach, Florida.
It was one of the uglier recent incidents in Real Housewives history.
Now, though, Luann hopes she has left it all behind her.
“Hi my friends, I’m happy to say, after a long, difficult year… I’ve made it through!” wrote de Lesseps online yesterday, adding:
“I’m humbled and grateful for this life lesson and ready to put the past behind me and move on with my life. Wish me luck!
“Thank you for your undying support over the years! Love always, Luann.”
Just under two years ago, Luann returned to Palm Beach for the first time since she married Tom D’Agostino there.
The union only lasted for seven months, however, with Luann citing this heartbreak as the basis for why she got so wasted and belligerent on the aforementioned New Year’s Eve.
Still, of course, this was no excuse for why Luann allegedly kicked a police officer inside of a hotel room back in December 2017.
She was charged with four felonies (battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence and two counts of corruption by threat) as a result of this crime — and then sort of made a mess of her probation afterward.
After this arrest, the reality star pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 50 hours of community service.
She was also ordered to attend two Alcoholics Anonymous meetings each week and attend a Victims Impact Class by Mothers Against Drunk Drivers.
Moreover, Luann was subject to random alcohol and drug tests throughout her probation.
Since then, however?
Luann actually checked herself into rehab twice, having to miss The Real Housewives reunion for season 10 as a result.
From there, in May, de Lesseps was taken into custody for violating her probation… which led to reinstating the terms and adding additional requirements, which included weekly telephone meetings and a monthly in-person check-in with her psychiatrist.
Seriously, this has been a long road for the troubled socialite.
“I paid very dearly, for the last year, for one very big mistake,” Luann told Andy Cohen in July, not sounding very remorseful.
She added during this Watch What Happens appearance:
“I’ll be glad to put it behind me and I feel like I really learned a lot about myself in this year.
“It’s been more than a year. I look at it right now as kind of a blessing, believe it or not, because it really made me step back and take a look at my drinking, etc.
“I feel fortunate.”
Luann Lesseps is expected to return to this franchise for season 12, which just faced a recent cast shake-up with Bethenny Frankel announcing she is leaving the series.
