Love Island’s Summer and Coco row explained as pair kick off during reunion

Love Island’s Summer Botwe and Coco Lodge didn’t hold back during Sunday night’s reunion episode, as an explosive row kicked off between the pair as they discussed who had hooked up with who since leaving the villa.

“Come on, spill the tea – whose been getting off with who?” Prompted host comedian Darren Harriott, as he started the conversation which kicked off the explosive row.

“Where do I start? Me, Jay, George. You’d love to know wouldn’t you?” Replied Billy Brown cheekily.

To which Summer chimed in: “I know someone who wishes they would have got with someone, but we move…”

As the audience in the studio responded, Coco could be seen shaking her head as she commented: ‘It’s all B******t.”

She then told Summer: “Oh it’s only banter. If you can’t handle a big personality don’t go on reality TV.”

Summer then quickly jabbed back: “Friends don’t say certain things, but alright.”

As Coco continued to shrug it off, Summer decided to escalate things further as she ominously added: "If you wanna talk about you, we can…"

"It was a joke," Coco replied, as the comment had been a direct reference to her time on the show, when she said she wished she'd slept with Josh when they were dumped from the villa.

Unwilling to let the subject drop, Summer was quick to respond as she was determined to get the last word in: "I just wanna clarify I never fight over a boy coz there's no competition!"

Noticing that things were beginning to get a lot more heated, Darren quickly diffused the situation by asking Coco about her close friendship with Jack Keating instead, as the pair have been seen growing closer since leaving the villa.

While the row wasn’t aired in full, viewers at home were quick to identify the moment tensions began to escalate and producers intervened, with several eagled eyed fans taking to twitter to air their thoughts.

“Summer is NOT happy with Coco’s comments. If looks could kill,” one fan joked.

“OMG Summer and Coco literally DESPISE one another!!! Coco saying she could have slept with Josh is a bit much though.

A third fan also weighed in, adding that: “Yep, everyone looks well awkward. Wish they would shown the whole row. This reunion show is DRY AF.”

One fan even went as far as to describe it as the “Worst reunion show to date.”

“They didn’t even show Summer and Coco hating on one another. Could see it coming though with all those dirty looks flying,” observed another fan.

The hostile shift in attitude towards each other was a stark contrast to their earlier friendship, with both Coco and Summer having previously been fast friends while in the villa.

However, despite initially remaining friends as they returned to normal life, fans have claimed that the recent tension between Coco and Summer may have stemmed from comments Coco made about Josh Le Grove despite him being romantically linked to Summer.

During an appearance on the Saving Grace Podcast, graphic designer Coco was asked if she’d slept with fellow contestant 22 year old Josh while in a holding villa together.

“No and I'm actually annoyed because I feel like I could have now,” she said in response.

“Talking to him now after I'm like, I feel like it could have happened. He was like 'Oh I'm horny' and I was like 'Right I'm going to take myself to bed.'”

“But I don't know why I did that because sorry, he's so fit. We are really close now and we spend like every day all day together. I even said ‘just let me try it once’,” she added.

Following the remarks, Summer and Coco immediately unfollowed each other on social media, with one Love Island fan, who was in attendance at the taping of the reunion show, suggesting that it was this drama that prompted the tense row on screen.
